His athleticism is off the charts. Is he going to work out at the combine?

His stats do appear really light.

Because he is basically a chase linebacker.

It is rather odd though.

Compare him to Sean Lee:

147 tackles, 166 assists, 29.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 3 interceptions, 20 passes defensed, 4 fumble recoveries, 4 forced fumbles.

I am willing to be sold on how great Jack is, but I am just not seeing it unless his athleticism is such a tie breaker that it makes projecting him to be great makes a difference. The production he had in school just does not lay it out. Could be the UCLA scheme, could be the double duty he had at RB. I am still waiting for someone to provide a convincing case he is a can't-miss playmaking force.

Well he was offensive AND defensive pac 12 rookie of the year.

Also read report where they were in practice trying to run their run plays and he was killing it so much that the HC told him to go over and do one on one drills with DBs vs WRs.

Now does that means his stats are skewed...I don't have a clue.

I do know that this kid has some crazy athletic skills and seems to be a hell of a defensive player. I just don't know where they would play him to get the best out of him. But I just don't see another defensive player in this draft that is rated this high that can do so much. I don't see any of the top DBs being as good as him. I don't see the top DE (Bosa) being as good as him. I don't see a DT as high as him in this draft. I would argue the only defensive player that is as good as he is would be the other LB Smith but he had his injury so he will not go as high.

But take that from someone who is just a fan on a message board and not some professional scout or arm chair scout.

To me there are only three legitimate players the cowboys should take with the #4 spot....Jacks is the only defensive player and Goff and Wentz are the other two players and I think they are over rated but at the same time when you get a chance to take what you feel is a franchise QB...You take him because you never know when we will need to replace Romo and only have a Quincy Carter draft slot available to us.

I don't think they take Tunsil if he falls...even though I think he is the best player in this draft. I just don't see them taking him.
I could see them taking Ramsey or Bosa but I just don't know if either is worth the pick. I don't like the idea of a top DB with a lack of INTs coming into a team that can't seem to coach their DBs into INTs. I think Bosa could be a good to great player but I just don't feel it...then again I did not think JJ Watt was going to be a huge difference maker as a 3-4 DE and look that he has done. I will leave the WR out of the equation as i want to see what his 40 time will be. I don't think you take a WR in the top 5 of the draft if he is a slow WR.

So to me..just me...It should be one of the two QBs or Jack.

Which means it will probably be Bosa or Ramsey.

Jack was asked to do a lot of different things at UCLA. Played RB and LB and from what I've seen and heard he played a lot of coverage and even covered slot in games. He's an incredible athlete and believe he will become one of the better defensive players from this draft. Don't know how much he actually rushed the passer in that scheme, definitely less than Von. Stats do seem low compared to Von and Luke, but I'd say he played like 8-12 games less than Luke and a lot of coverage.

I'm not saying he's Von or Luke, just think he's got the talent to be great and I hope he does the combine.

Honestly, I think that Gregory is closer to Miller than anyone in this draft. He obviously needs to put on some meat, but he has the athleticism to fill multiple rolls. Unfortunately, the most vanilla of teams drafted him, so he'll be told to run in a straight line and "beat the man across from him" every play.

Myles Jack is a comparable, if not better athlete than Miller and has a very powerful frame, but he doesn't have nearly the natural ability rushing the passer Miller does.

I think when all is said and done, however, it will be Jaylon Smith that becomes the most disruptive player from this draft. He can play all of the linebacker spots in a 3-4 and 4-3, as well as put his hand on the ground and turn the corner.

That just begs the question to ask how is a player asked to do all of these things yet master none expected to be an impact player at whatever we have him doing?

And I could care less if he blows up at the Combine.

How well he tests should take a backseat to his production and how he is evaluated on tape based on what he is going to be expected to do in a Cowboy uniform.

All that I can see is a bunch of projecting and drooling over his athleticism. At the end of the day, he seems like Shaq Thompson all over again.

If Jaylon Smith did not get hurt, I would take him a 100 times out of a 100 out over Myles Jack.

I'm with you man.

I'm fine with Myles Jack but top 5? Top 10 even? No thanks.

He could be a pro bowler at that position and I would still feel it's not worth it for where we would have to draft him.

For those who don't want Jack @4 (or even top-10 according to some), would you take Luke Kuechly there?

I have said it before, if someone could say what exactly he will be doing without a ton of projecting, I am capable of being convinced.

If they are comparable go get that player Im obviously saying this while looking at the play he just made in the Superbowl
I don't see anyone in this draft that resembles Miller in this draft but there are several that can be quality players from LB to DE.

Myles Jack 1 Sack in 3 years is not what I consider impact. I would have a difficult time choosing him at #4 in first round. THis is
the main reason I'm starting to think a trade down would be much better to the #10 to #13 spot and pickup another 2nd Rounder.
Than you sit back and wait until its your turn and take a player that can help you and honestly I might look Elliott from Ohio State.
In 2nd Round I like Doctson from TCU and Defense. 3rd Round on I look for a QB to bring up behind Romo and RGIII and yes RGIII.
4th Round Defense, 5th Round Defense, 6th Round Defense you get the message.

There isn't anyone like him this year. None of the top rated pass rushers are as good of a prospect as Miller. Bosa isn't as good as Watt, Ramsey and Hargreaves aren't as good as Peterson.

That's why I prefer a QB at #4. We wouldn't be bypassing a dominant player at another position. Most players that will be available at #4 are guys that would've been in the teens in the '11 draft that included Von, Peterson, Watt, Tyson Smith, etc.

So since there are a bunch of good, but not top end, prospects in the top 10 of this draft I'd go QB if we have one rated similarly to the other players at #4.

Sounds like Myles Jack is undraftable to Alexander.

Make a mental note of that.

Funny. But when he is announced by Goodell, if you want to be accurate, say it right.

How is it going Cowboy fans? With the 4th pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys select, Myles Jack, Freak, UCLA.

Brian Urlacher...Freak New Mexico

Prior to the draft it was said some teams liked him as a Safety and others liked him as a LB. It seemed the bears like him as a LB and he turned out ok.

Darren Woodson Freak, Arizona State

He actually played "some" time as DE in college and played "Some" time as a LB.

Campo said "spotted a linebacker who looked like a safety in waiting"

There are no Von Millers in this draft..........nobody has his size, speed, acceleration, and strength that he has.

Closest would be Noah Spence, but he got kicked off the team at Ohio State for drug use....huge red flag and might be a box player for us (undraftable)

Well, according to Alexander's boy Chase Goodbread, this is the guy most comparable to Miller in this draft....
