I really don't see one true #1 receiver in this class, that is the issue when we are talking about drafting one in the 1st round.

Our #2 and #3 WRs were 68th and 105th in the league in receiving yards last year. I don't care if this draft doesn't have a Dez X #1, we just need anybody.

I think the most realistic option is us signing OBJ who hopefully has gas left in the tank.

That being said I’d still take a WR early so we can let MG walk.

This needs to be an offense heavy draft.

I’d beg them to address DT and LB in FA but they won’t.

I don’t know the players in this draft, and I’m not gonna spend much time learning because I’m about fed up, but in the first three rounds….the ones where you generally expect to find eventual starters (or gamble on wannabe gangsters)….get some playmakers on offense.

Ones with fresh legs who can hit a hole, not one who is willing to take a pay cut to hang around longer than needed.

The new guy will sell jerseys Jerry. Promise.

Using the 26th pick to get a day-one starter at the 2nd most valuable position in football (per PFF WAR) is not a reach in any way.
Fully aware that WR is a valued position, but this class is very underwhelming to me. Think there will be better players available at 26 then at the receiver position, such as corner, which is also a valued position.

This is why a FA / trade at WR is a must IMO. This class sucks at WR and is absolutely loaded at CB.

Gimme a FA WR, and then you can just get a slot stud like Downs or someone similar after the 1st.

Amon-Ra ran a 4.60 at his pro bowl. They (JSN) share a very similar skillset and body build coming out. I think JSN is a longer strider and might be a little faster than he appears. I say all this to say, if he puts up a 4.5-4.55 that would be excellent. Technique goes a long way with WRs.

Cooper Kupp ran a 4.62 at the combine.

Speed without hands kills. I remember the Joey Galloway debacle. Jerry has done some dumb things to get wide out talent over the years. Draft a good one and don't trade a pick to get one unless you know he's a stud for 5 years and a difference maker.

True, but Amonra was winning outside and inside in college.

That's more about opportunity at this point I think. I think he has the skillset to do it, he just didn't in college. Justin Jefferson got drafted killing it in the slot in college. According to his draft profile, he struggled playing on the outside. I'm not saying this is Jefferson, as I think to be really effective outside, it is ideal you at least run around the 4.5 area (JJ ran a 4.43 I believe). Point being, I don't really see what would keep him from succeeding outside. He gets excellent burst off the line, winning early in the route and knows how to get in and out of his cuts. He's probably not going to burn you on a go route; but he is probably winning every other route on the tree. I think the combine will be interesting for him. Will he run? What is his 3 cone number? 10 yd split? etc.

Since McClay has been in charge of the draft, I don't remember any receiver drafted under 6 feet and around 200 lbs. They do not draft "slot only" type of receivers, either, they are usually undrafted free agent types or late rd draft picks. Just look at some of past names: Terrence Williams, Cedric Wilson, Michael Gallup, Jalen Tolbert. They all fit that prototype.

Pretty clear to see that they aren't going to draft a receiver under 6 feet and around 200 lbs. This year's class is loaded with undersized prospects at the position, this will be the true litmus test with they continue to draft that same specific type of receiver.

Which is exactly why the combine will be so important for him.

If we’re dead set on taking WR my preference would be Zay Flowers. I think he can be special player despite his size. He’s explosive, plays with tenacity and an edge. He honestly reminds me a lot of a young Antonio Brown.

I like Addison and Hyatt too.

I like a lot of the receivers coming out but there’s no lead dog (ex. Chase, Marvin Harrison Jr) that moves the needle for me.

They have to get out of that mold of thinking.

There was “behind the scenes” video on the teams website last year of the scouts giving summaries of certain prospects during workouts and they seemed to have a very glowing evaluation on Garrett Wilson (5’-10”ish, 185 lbs)
