TO was injured a few weeks earlier and although he wasn't 100% he still caught 4 passes for 49 yards and a TD. He had one more catch in that game than he did in the opener vs the Giants that season. What took a toll on the passing game was Romo not being the sharp QB we saw in the first 2 games vs the Giants in the regular season. Romo produced 100 plus passer ratings in both regular season games vs the Giants and 8 TD passes but both the team and Romo were slumping entering the playoffs while the Giants were on the rise.

What hurt the Cowboys in that game was a poor game plan by starting Barber for the first time all season and burning him out in the first half. After gaining over 100 yards in the first half he could only manage 26 in the second half. The Cowboys played right into the hands of the Giants by keeping the game close which is exactly how they win big games. The Cowboys defense didn't show up that day allowing Eli all kinds of time and we could never get the Giants off the field on 3rd down. The Cowboys defense looked pretty similar that day to how they looked vs the Packers this past Jan.

I agree with your second paragraph, but on your first paragraph, you don't think that's because A. the Giants pass rush picked up at the end of the season, and was much better than it was earlier in the season when the Cowboys played the Giants, and B. TO being out with a high ankle sprain, that limited him in the playoff game?

TO was what caused the 2007 Cowboys offense to be so deadly, and when he could be single covered because he still wasn't 100%, that obviously limited the Cowboys offense. Other things that limited the Cowboys in that playoff game other than Romo were: a tired MB3, an unreliable Crayton, and a rusty Terry Glenn that hadn't played a game all season. It's disingenuous to put all that on Romo.

The Giants pass rush clearly picked up in the second half of the season and because of that and Romo's slumping play that produced some dismal performances the Cowboys decided to attack the Giants on the ground. The Cowboys feared the Giants pass rush and knowing Romo wasn't playing well they felt running Barber ragged would be the best approach. Barber who had been a great second half back and closer due to being kept fresh had no legs in the second half after carrying such a big load in the first half. As for TO although he wasn't 100% he was still effective catching 4 passes for 49 yards and a TD. Starting Terry Glenn was another bad move he couldn't even run a route without falling down. I'm not putting that game all on Romo never have and never will but he contributed to the loss.

I put that one mostly on coaching. And Crayton, I'm still pissed at him.

he was about 4th or 5th on the list of those responsible- but you and the other haters will always claim he bore most of the blame. Pathological is what it is.
