Who is the better quarterback: Eli Manning or Tony Romo?

In a way Romo and Eli are very similar.. but someone had to win Week 17, too bad Romo's defense didn't come to play that game..

I think they scored 14 points, so the offense did their part to.

Let's put it this way. Two rings gets you in the HOF. Romo needs one with his stats to get in.

Plunkett has 2 rings he is not in the HOF and I doubt he ever will be.

One of the biggest things QB's are graded on is winning Super Bowls. At this point you would have to say Eli, which sucks.

It's not that he won two Super Bowls. It's that he had to make clutch plays to win two Super Bowls, and he did. Eli doesn't make those two late drives. Eli doesn't dodge the pass rush and complete a pass to David Tyree, Eli doesn't put the ball on the money to Mario Manningham, and the Giants don't win.

Again, it's not just the Super Bowl wins, it's how Eli played in those Super Bowl games and how he proved himself that merits heavy consideration.

At this point, Cowboys fans must console themselves with stats that say Romo is the better quarterback. But those who understand that it's all about the rings, a quarterback getting his team there and how that quarterback plays in the Big Game realize that Eli is the better quarterback. Now, Romo may prove that he is indeed better than Eli. But to this point, he hasn't.

Sure they did and what did our defense do? Newman became a human hurdle and no one was making tackles. Giants deserve their credit they won

The Giants weren't without their flaws last year. But, as a team, they played well enough down the stretch (where all championships are won) to overcome those flaws.

Props to Eli - he was obviously a HUGE reason the Giants won the title. But it darn sure wasn't ALL HIM.

Tony Romo is plenty good enough to QB the Cowboys to a title. But other areas of the Cowboys' team will have to deliver in a way they DIDN'T last season.

In my book, there is very little daylight between twice-titled Eli and non-titled Tony. The biggest difference has been one teams' ability to OVERCOME their flaws - while the other team allowed themselves to be characterized by theirs.

I agree it was a team that helped Plunkett. He fit like a glove for what the Raiders wanted in a QB a guy who could get the ball down field. Plunkett was not one of the best QB to play in this game but with the Raiders team he was able to share in the success of that team and be a big part of it.

I think people have been judging QB by this standard for many years not just over the last 10 or 20 years it has been this way long before that.

As for Warner good question, in the right situation Warner looked unstoppable and yet looked like a train wreak later on with the Rams and even NY Giants then was put in a situation in Arz of all places and looked great once again. If anything it shows it was never Warner alone. Was he a leader with St Louis and then forgot how to be a leader until he got to Arz? There is so much crud that gets thrown around some with validity some over the top.

But to answer your question I would not have an objection if Warner made it

Romo is better. Eli has the luxury of never having to play flawlessly. Romo can have a perfect game and the team can still lose.

The example of that was the first game against the Giants.

Let me add this since I missed it. Warner for his career put excellent TD 208 to int 128 ratio, showed very good accuracy. Plunkett not overly accurate and 198 ints to only 164 TD so he tended to turn the ball over quite a bit even in the 2 SB years he was throwing more ints than TD

Basically the crux of it right there. Romo's numbers are the 2nd best in nfl history.

If he had the team around him that Eli has had, he would have been more successful.

Eli has had a better team and you can tell by the stability of the head coach. His head coach has kept his job since 2004.

We've had Parcells, Phillips, and Garrett in Romo's tenure...

It took Coughlin four years to put together a championship team. Parcells was here from 2003-2006, of which Romo was there for 1 year. Phillips had 3.5 years, and now Garrett has only had 1.5 years.

Our lack of continuity hurts us.

I'm still trying to figure out how we rank so highly in yards every year, but still can't finish.

Plunkett sat on the bench for portions of his career. Eli has two SB MVPS. Only five QBs have that. Three are in. The other two are Brady and Eli. Eli just needs a normal career arc. A third makes it a no brainer, but I think he's in anyway.

Romo is on the cusp. He has the stats, but failure to win big games will hurt him. It doesn't matter if that is fair or not. Or if people say it's a team game. Those are the rules.

We could sit there and say it was Romo fault and sure as part of this team as QB he has to take some of the responsbility but when they are ripping your OL up and defense can't do jack it is going to be hard to win no matter who is playing QB.

I'm not saying Eli will not make it to the HOF, is he one of the best QB I have seen? No, is he the best playing in the league right now? No he is not.

Eli does have 2 rings he has also put up some horrible season, Brady may not win a SB every year but he puts up quality numbers yearly, as does Brees as does Peyton. Eli could just as easily put up a stinker as he has done before like after the 08 SB. In 2010 he was throwing ints at a very high rate. To me greatness of a QB is the high consistency of that QB year in year out not having a couple of good years where you and your team win a SB

As for Plunkett he was exactly what Davis wanted in a QB he fit the mold of Lamonica, as much success as they had with Stabler he was not that big down field passer that Lomonica was Plunkett fit that mold

Troy was a leader but when key parts started to fade away Troy was dealing with guys running wrong routs and dropping passes, Troy did not forget how to lead. Leadership is not about winning alone. It seems to me if Dallas does not win Romo then is no leader? I can promise you out of all the leaders of the 90's 1 leader had more influence than any of them and he was Jimmy Johnson that is where it starts.

He has 3 post season wins vs 7 loses and 0 SB
