Did I miss the point of this thread?

I thought it was the guy we have never replaced (or not completely), not who was most valuable to the team at the time they played, and therefore irreplaceable.

Which is it?

I hear ya Thumpster, I don't think some realize what irreplaceable means. Staubach was nicely 'replaced', ultimately by Aikman, etc. A good argument can be made that Darren Woodsen is and has been, the most irreplaceable.

Thats a very good point, but the same thing was said about Staubach, until Aikman came along. We just havent found our replacement for Woodson yet. He's out there.....

Staubach.

No Captain America would have meant no America's Team.

I think anyone who chooses someone else is delusional.

Staubach made the Cardiac Cowboys a household name and was largely responsible for the ridiculous spread of the fan base.

Aikman was rock solid and tremendous in many ways but he was totally reliant on a good OL and a single WR in Irvin. He was not tossing comeback TDs with broken fingers after scrambling for his life against the best DL of a generation.

Woody was a heck of player but he isn't any better than Cliff Harris was.

Just because we tried to limp through years with RW31 as a Woody replacement does not make him irreplaceable.

I played safety and can tell you it is not that important a position.

Woodson would be one and Johnston would be another and it is unlikely we will see many big time run blocking FB coming anytime soon.
