Who is the most over rated player in Dallas Cowboys history

Dak and is it even close. His supporting cast from day 1 has been far superior to Tony Romo's.

Nobody thinks Dak is better than slightly above average.

The real answer is Emmit Smith. Had the best O-line ever. You could've put any top running back in that position and the results would be the same.

Jason Witten
Ezekiel Elliott
Demarcus Lawrence
Tyrone Crawford
Miles Austin
Terence Steele

I’d put Zeke. Well worth the hype his rookie season and maybe a couple more but the entire body of work wasn’t that great over his career.
Who is overrating him?

Troy Aikman.
Troy was a good QB but he was never a great one.
He benefitted from QB wins more so than anyone in NFL history.

Troy did have a strong and accurate arm, but he processed pretty slowly.
That led to tons of sacks early.
Norv removed the need to process by running a timing-based system and voila it clicked big time.
Troy only needed to make 1 or 2 reads and let it rip.
They only ran a dozen plays.

Troy and Mike were good to really good but it was Emmitt who drove that team.

Why was Romo better??? He had accuracy issues too.
He was more accurate than Dak and didnt hold onto the ball all the time. Im not saying Romo was an amazing QB either...similar to Dak he didnt show up for most big games. I dont think Dak is terrible but, unless the D becomes seriously dominant and can carry a team to the SB, he likely will never see one.

Like KC's defense.

Two guys come to mind. Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson is the first. Fans loved him because he was flashy. But he was a headache for the coaching staff and most of his team mates.

Brace yourself for the next one!!!

Duane Thomas. Lasted two seasons. Fans loved him because he was a SB MVP gaining 90 odd yards in that game. But he was not coachable and a terrible team mate. Actually a Cowboy contemporary of his named Calvin Hill had a much better career as a RB. Folks have forgotten Hill. Sadly Thomas passed away just a few days ago. I am really glad that he changed into a very nice person later in his life.
Maybe he became a nice person, I certainly don't know, unfortunately my final memory of him was in the documentary about the 71 Cowboys where he referred to Dan Reeves as "white boy" a couple of times. I was very surprised at that.

Without a doubt Jason Witten.

That guy was a little above average at best. His last 3 or 4 years were terrible as he somehow slowed down.

Stats were always padded by garbage time.
Dak

Smith still played great football even AFTER the O-Line declined and he had a ton of wear and tear on his body. Almost had a 1,000 yard season and 9 TDs his final year in the league with the Cardinals lol

He would have been great anywhere he went.

Romo, Barry church, Jason witten, scandrick, tyrone crawford, Jeff heath, vander trash

Every commentator, Dallas front office, and wider NFL. The worm turned on this board 2-3 years too late.
People think Zeke is still good? Really? I haven't heard that.

Aside from the Dallas FO, I haven't seen anyone rating Zeke high.
