Who Is To Blame For The Star Wars Fiasco?

This, I will not pay to see another one of them as long as she is in charge. The last Jedi made a mockery of the entire Star Wars franchise. I see no need to reward something like that with my money. Disney should take someone from the Marvel team and let them run Star Wars.

You mean the same Disney, the studio backing the same Marvel team, who created the same tiny "Girl Power" scene, that certain members of Avengers: Endgame audience found unacceptable? Someone from that Marvel team?

I don't know. That idea reads like a recipe for apocalyptic disaster.

Sounds like a job for James Cameron!!! Wait. Cameron likes strong female characters too. And Eywa was the nature goddess in his Avatar movie. Who knows? Cameron might consider introducing a female Sith emperor. Some folks' heads would explode if that happened!

I have no issues with strong female characters. I was a big Wonder Woman fan, Zena fan, Buffy fan, Khaleesi fan, etc.... Rey is not my problem with Star Wars. It was the ridiculous writing with the whole story line. The way Rey can magically do anything without training like no other force user we have ever seen including Anakin who was made by the midichlorians. The way they basically discarded Luke is the worst part. Basically, they ruined it.

Similarly, the Luke/Kylo Ren fight could have judged epic IF the Force had not totally consumed Luke afterwards. I mean, after all these decades of learning the ways of the Force, using the Force, and contemplating the purpose of the Force, one would think Luke would have been on par with Yoda by the time he was found but he was not.

I honestly would not care and would even enjoy it if Rey became the most powerful Jedi ever as long as she does not do it without training. I looked forward to seeing Luke train her and then we got the hot garbage they wrote.

Okay, I haven't seen The Last Jedi either, apparently. I guess the franchise means even less to me than I'd realized. (Had to Google "Princess Leia floating in space" to see what movie it was in.)

cause at this point i just feel like i'm flogged over the head with PC/Woke culture. it just feels like a dogpile that never ends. avengers had their "girlpower" moment, star wars had the "he's cute i want one" flog men, many movies have been remade by simply making the male a female to show WOMEN CAN BE STRONG!

i'd certainly argue there are MANY strong female characters out there who don't need to get there by pop culture or tearing down men along the way.

as for lesbians in movies - hey, that's my favorite genre. i just don't see the need to change up historical characters like this to fit a segmented fad. if you want a gay superhero, create one from the ground up and have a day.

Agreed, I don't usually care for changing established characters from male to female, straight to gay, or whatever. You know these people, then suddenly you don't...like Starbuck changing to a female character. That was enough for me to not even watch Battlestar Galactica. You wanna make Robin a woman, that's fine, he was always questionable anyway.

it took me a bit to get used to a female starbuck but overall it was incredible and i just didn't care.

the entire run including the "off series" of how the cylons were created was simply amazing to me.

Dirk Benedict was a great choice to play Starbuck in the original Battlestar Galactica series. The original Starbuck was glossy and one-dimensional, a key cog in a late 1970's science fiction television filled with (mostly) superficial episodes weakly attempting to capitalize on the enormous popularity of the mega blockbuster movie Star Wars. It was a good match between character, actor and series. On a side note, Benedict later portrayed basically the exact same character a few years later in the A-Team.

Similarly, Katee Sackhoff was a great choice to play the role in the re-imagined series. Like the series, characters were shown more in-depth in a fictional depiction of how BOTH individuals and a civilization would cope following near genocidal annihilation AND the motivations and evolution of the enemy who tried wiping them out. The new Starbuck ran through a gauntlet of personal and group dynamic, emotional and spiritual trials, like all of the other characters.

Sackhoff made Starbuck much more interesting than Benedict's starting with the very first 2-part pilot episode. No one can ever miss what they never experience. However, I would recommend for anyone to watch the pilot episode alone--if not only to see Sackhoff/Starbuck "Make The Rain". She was the best damn colonial viper pilot of either series. And the next pilot on the list comes in a distant second.

This mini-rant is not meant to convince anyone about characters, etc. That will never happen anyway. It is just my two cents concerning an element (e.g. Sackhoff) belonging to Battlestar Galactica: BSG 75.

Yeah, I knew you'd have something to say about it. Lol. It's all good, I was never a huge enough fan of the original show, to stick around and see if it got better, after the first 15 minutes or so.
