Who Is To Blame For The Star Wars Fiasco?

Yeah, I knew you'd have something to say about it. Lol. It's all good, I was never a huge enough fan of the original show, to stick around and see if it got better, after the first 15 minutes or so.

I don't have a problem with a strong female hero, like Gal Gadot was great as Wonder Woman. The Last Jedi seem to push the idea that with Princess Leia now being a General. Rey is a twig and she can do anything.,but the one that took the cake for me was Laura Dern's character when she gave that line to the Rebel pilot "I've dealt with flyboys like you years ago"...Ooozzzed hatred of men. Men are dogs and pigs and we are not intelligent. Only women know what to do.BLAH BLAH BLAH. Turn on The Oprah Winfrey Show and pass out the cupcakes...

People going to see the movies. If they don't come; they won't build it. That's why so many plans for sequels and trilogies get dumped. "Dragonslayer" was the first of a planned trilogy but the box office receipts couldn't validate that.

They wouldn't be making a Rambo movie with a 72 year old action star if they didn't plan on a profit.

Star Wars is just like GoT and the fans really like to dog them. I ask myself one question about any movie or series or music and if the answer is yes, I am good for the next go. Did I receive ample return on my money and/or time investment?

Picking parts of these movies that you don't like is like judging a QB, oh say Dak Prescott, off selected plays and not the entire body of work.

Somebodies like these Star Wars movies because people keep showing up.

And after all, objectivity is the illusion, everything is subjective.

They wouldn't be making a Rambo movie with a 72 year old action star if they didn't plan on a profit.

I am trying to refrain from commenting but curiosity tagged me again. May I ask what did you consider as wrong with Leia Organa being cast as a high ranking leader of the Rebellion?

I recall the first time I saw the first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation called Encounter At Farpoint FILLED with expectations. There I sat, critiquing EVERYTHING. Then it happened. The primary and secondary saucer sections separated. At warp.

I nerded out. "Why would a starship that large disengage primary and secondary hulls, especially within its own warp bubble?" I turned off my television and swore never to watch this new <expletive> ever again. That is, until the day I accidentally turned on the show and saw the Contagion episode, was immediately hooked, and gave the show a second chance.

Placing my hypocritical tendencies aside for a moment, I do try not judging individual characters and actor/actress portrayals until giving them a chance to be presented properly. It does not mean I do not eventually consider some characters as average, terrible or worse but I do try judging with 'enough' accumulated evidence first.

Leia was one of the leaders of the Rebellion in RoTJ, ESB, and ANH. It makes total sense that she'd be THE leader of a new rebellion against the First Order. She was always a strong personality from the first. Super Saiyan Space Leia was utterly ridiculous, but her being a general? It fits perfectly. She should have died when the bridge took the hit though, Jedi-trained or not.

There were several examples of agenda in TLJ, but her being a general wasn't one of them.

If I was a big fan of the original, rather than just a casual viewer, I'm sure I would've given the reboot more of a chance.

As for TNG, it took me a while to really go all in, but the Klingon update helped considerably. I couldn't stand Riker's character, and I was iffy about this old, bald captain, who's from France, but has a distinct British accent. It ended up being my favorite incarnation of the series....though I'm still not a Riker fan.

That's because Star Trek is BOSS. Even when it lays an egg, the overall shows always manages to overall meet the baseline of Star Trek. ...and as you noted. Occasionally, it puts out iconic episodes that define why we all really love Star Trek.

I have to say, I was both surprised and upset that Tasha Yar died in TNG. She was becoming one of my favorite characters.

Solo was for the most part a flop because people like me who were life long die hard Star Wars fans were so utterly disgusted with the Last Jedi bullcrap they produced they stayed away from it. That was the first Star Wars flop ever. Disney paid too much for Star Wars to produce flops. They will eventually cut Kathleen Kennedy loose because the blame lays squarely at her feet. I will stay away from Star Wars until she is no longer apart of it and I know several other people like me who feel the same way. They could have easily made Rey the strong female heroin while staying out of the political bullcrap messaging in Last Jedi.
