Ok, your overall team is stronger ...but what about OL depth?

For seriousness, though, PT - this is weak. Now we;re going after depth?

If any team in the whole league has injury problems, things get tough. Should we discuss the Eagles pathetic QB depth? WR depth? LB depth? No. It's pointless. As a healthy team, the Boys starting lineup is strong, REAL strong.

...and, are the Cowboys weaker or stronger in 2006?

I've followed the draft and FA acquisitions closely this year. While the Commanders and Giants didn't really do anything spectacular this year, the Cowboys (like in 2005) didn't do too bad; and even better in the FA acquisitions. However, some key/pivotal players we lost in the mix ...

Larry Allen (G); now with the Rams ...haunting begins:
Sat 8/26
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVT CBS11)
7:00 p.m.

KeShawn Johnson (WR); now a Carolina Panther ...haunting begins:
Sun 10/29.........
Carolina (NBC)
7:15 p.m.

LaRoi Glover (DT); who replaced him -- can he be replaced?
Not scheduled for a haunting in 2006

Dat Nguyen - Retired - March 3, 2006

Jacob Rogers (OT) cut 3/17/2006

That said, is a good QB (Bledsoe) and a play-maker wide-receiver (Owens), enough for the Dallas Cowboys offensive side of the ball, able to do what it takes to ward off defensive beasts from NFC-East teams ...?

Yeah that preseason battle in august with san francisco is so important, I hope we can find a way to win that or we are doomed for sure...

:laugh1:

What we have is Keyshawn then. Will we rue the day we let him go?

Jacob Rogers has already haunted Dallas.

You expect 2nd round picks to eventually become starters someday. The guy never played a meaningful down for the Cowboys.

Then again, I think because Jeff Ireland was so against picking Rogers and Parcells took him anyway, that really solidified Ireland taking over as the Director of Scouting.

...And who are you to judge the Cowboys' draft as mediocre anyway?

Listen, this isn't between you and me ...don't get upset with me, do you read ESPN, or Sports Talk? There's plenty of other sports writers who many are saying the same thing about your 2006 Draft ratings.

And many of those same pundits were falling all over an Eagle class last year that failed to deliver.

I've been rueing since mid-march.

Hopefully I'll have it all out of my system by then. If not, we're in for a long day, a looooooooong day of rueing.

I'm not upset. Sorry if it sounded like that.

What I mean is that Dallas filled its' needs in this year's draft. I can't tell you they had a great draft just like you can't tell me they didn't.

I can pull out draft grades from the past few years and show how far off they were as well. Half of those that criticized the Cowboys' draft fail to realize that the Cowboys will be using a two TE formation this season (meaning Fasano will be a starter or at least a big contributor)

I've seen the Eagles get good grades for years and somehow they don't seem to improve. A team that's supposed to be so deep in talent year-in and year-out somehow manages to add another 10 great draft picks every year. It doesn't add up to me.

In comparing the teams, we can talk about what each did or didn't do in free agency as well.

But, I'll give it the old college try anyway. Ok, your overall team is stronger ...but what about OL depth? Would you say that you have a young or old OL. It's another year gone by and your draft was mediocre
I'd say the OL is a mixture of youth and age, and will be better in 2006 than it was in 2005, barring injuries of course.

Age, unless a player is a dinosaur has very little to do with the OL. Let's talk straight across comparisons of 2005 to 2006.

Left Tackle...

To begin 2005, Flozell Adams was the LT and Torrin Tucker was the backup. Torrin had to become a starter for us. For 2006 Flozell is coming back and if he goes down again the backup will be Marc Columbo, a former 1st round pick who reports say is finally healthy. It's hard not to improve on Tucker.

Left Guard...

In 2005 Larry Allen once again manned this spot. Larry is one of my all time favorite Cowboys and I'm going to miss him. He's getting up there in age, but still is one of the strongest players ever. In 2006 it looks like we'll go with Kyle Kosier. I'll openly admit I'm not excited about this because I've already stated that LA was a favorite of mine. Kosier also went to ASU so it's hard for me to forget that. However, he is more mobile than LA by a large margin which means we may add more sweeps to the right than we've used in the recent past. I'm always in favor of new things the defense has to defend. I'll be rooting for Stephen Peterman or Andre Gurode over Kosier, but I'm realistic, Kosier showed the staff here something, he's the LG.

Center...

IMO the weak link of the OL in 2005. For me the news Al Johnson was tipping the snap just about gave me ulcers. Reports say Johnson has added 15 to 25 pounds of muscle this off season and a lot of strength. As long as he doesn't revert to pumping his fist when he's going to snap the ball he should be better in 2006.

Right Guard...

In 2005 Marco Rivera hurt his back. He was unable to help out AJ at C and he was ineffective pulling for sweeps left, something that was a strong suit for him his entire career. Maybe it's just me, but I think healthy OL are an improvement.

Right Tackle...

Speaking of healthy OL, in 2005 we put a 6th round rookie, 1st time playing RT in his life out there, and on top of that he was hobbled with injuries. Reports say he's much stronger, leaner, meaner, and focused because he now knows how much he wants it. He'll be competing with Jason Fabini for the RT spot in 2006. Regardless of who wins the RT job it should be better in 2006.

If you think the OL is in a state of stasis or decline PT, I guess you'll need to show me where. 3 injured starters, a rookie playing out of his natural position, and a C giving away the snap counts in 2005 gave our offense serious issues to overcome. Barring injuries, 2006 is going to be leaps and bounds better.

I am hoping he has learned his lesson and Parcells can handle him better than Reid. But you never know.

I think the guy who comes back and haunts us will be Sean Payton.

This team is much stronger than last year. The boys in Vegas also think so. Last years draft picks will show up big time this year. And I agree with your other post that not 1 player makes a Offense or Defense but if one guy can due that it is TO.

Our O- Line will be better this year with 3 new starters. Flo, Fabini and Kosier. Rivera and Johnson are healthy this year unlike last year. And our o-line depth is much improved this year with 16 game starter Pettit Marc Columbo and Gurode as back ups.

Only time will tell. Good Post Talon

No reason to doubt you Hos; I'm sure you know your team very well -- as I do my own team.

We'll see how things play out in 2006.

IMNSHO, PT is the best Eagles fan I've ever come across. I give him respect and I get it back.

At least he stays here, through thick and thin...unlike some RedStink fans that I know...!
