I think they should go after Eric Taylor. He had two state championships in Texas at the high school level and he was a QB or wide receiver coach at TMU.

Wow. I can't honestly believe you said that. OK, well, that's fine with me. I'd rather you didn't have him anyway. Good luck in your searches TAM.

My uncle is a UF grad and a big donor there. Mushchamp is already on a short leash after this season, their fanbase is seriously dissapointed in him. "Buyer's remorse" was the term he used.

If you don't agree fine, but don't act like it's some off the wall opinion. I'm not the only one questioning him right now.

Wade Phillips.
That's not an all together absurd suggestion. His good ol boy manner would go well with student athletes and his pro defenses would be sound.

A and M struggles to compete in the Big 12 ... Unless they get a super ground breaking coach (like Jackie Sherril, etc) i think they will be perenial cellar dwellers in the SEC. Fodder for the likes of LSU, Alabama and Arkansas.
so they need to hire absolute scumbag that will get them put on probation?

Well he did cheat his way through the best period of their existence, they miss him.

This is great getting to watch Houston today... I haven't seen them play all year.

I wonder if Sumlin is that great or if he's just continuing on what Art Briles started. Like someone was pointing out, if Briles hadn't gone to Baylor and taken RG3's commitment with him, he'd have had Kolb, RG3, and Keenum in a row -- pretty good.

News out of College Station keeps getting better. As big a fan as I am, I am glad I decided to get out of Dodge instead of sticking around to attend school there.

Some influential Aggies, too, grew increasingly troubled over the past days over what appeared to be the single-mindedness toward Sumlin, driven by A&M regent Jim Wilson, a Sumlin running buddy. The idea being that A&M's football future shouldn't be determined by a sports-happy regent who tabs a coach because he gets to hang with him.

Your Uncle is not making decisions at UF so perhaps it is you who should watch how you are acting. You don't want Muschamp, that's fine but that doesn't mean you or your Uncle know jack about what will be.

Remember, Bear Bryant went 1-9 in his first year at TAM and Jackie Sherrill 5-6 his first year at College Station. Maybe you and your Uncle should relax.

Good luck finding your coach.

I genuinely don't know who best fits A&M's needs, seems a tough choice, they need true long term thinking in this decision.

A&M interviewed Sumlin, Fedora and Smart today. They are trying to interview Charlie Strong but Louisville isnt giving him permission.

Recruiting is the key. I think Wade has the disposition for it, but does he have the energy for it. It is one thing to work long, hard hours as an NFL head coach/coordinator, but most of that work is done at the office or practice fields. When you are in college football you have to get out there and travel around to many different places. Would he want to do that? There are a few 65 year old college football coaches out there that do just that. They have been doing it for years. Wade would be starting anew, which is a different circumstance.

I think fedora has the fire and the dapper name to accommodate an SEC start up, if limited to those choices that is.

I'd be ok with any of them, but Smart and Strong have strong SEC ties and have both won national titles in that conference. Fedora coached at Florida about ten years ago but it was during the Zook years when they were often average. I personally think A&M needs a defensive minded coach moreso than an offensive one, anyway.

I've been told to not be surprised if we try and throw a ton of money at Gary Patterson and also to not be surprised when he asks for $4.5-$5 million which we probably wouldnt be willing to pay.

I've heard the rumors of Patterson and Briles as well, but both men walk on water in their respective private school programs and would no longer do so with the impatient A&M fanbase. Like you said they would be very pricey.

I'm also not sure how the 4-2-5 would work in the SEC, although it would be kind of funny to hire the guy who turns out was the real driving force behind Franchione's rise to power at New Mexico and TCU. Kind of a coming full circle sort of thing.

Word is Briles doesnt like A&M very much, even less after what he felt was poor postgame treatment from the local media after this year's game in College Station. Not to mention he would immediately go from the most revered Baylor coach since Grant Teaff to the most hated man in Waco, and I don't think he wants to do that to that fanbase. After all the ruckus between A&M and Baylor over the SEC thing, I wouldnt be able to sleep at night if I made that kind of a move as a coach.

Apparently, A&M is in serious talks with Chris Peterson (this is according to Boise insiders as well) and is using MD Anderson in Houston as a draw for his son's treatment. This is the only candidate we'd probably be willing throw out over $4 million a year for.

Don't expect it to happen, but it's getting more publicity than I expected.

Seems unlikely given UCLA has a comparable medical facility on their own premises and still couldn't lure him.
