Who should they use the franchise tag on?

They still won 13 games. I doubt they do better than that no matter what they did. Imagine if they used it on Randy Gregory or Von Miller.
Agreed, but I’m not sure how much worse they would have done without Schultz either. He was a pretty big factor in the Cincinnati game, maybe they have an extra loss? I still have to believe they end up the 5 seed, beat Tampa, and lose to SF.

No issue with using the tag on Schultz last offseason, they had zero depth at the position and it felt almost catastrophic to lose him. Now I think they have a couple candidates to compete for the role.

Only in Cowboys Zone fans make posts trying to get rid of the teams best offensive weapon  , I bet the OP thinks it will be a mistake to pick up CeeDee’s 5th year option.

Lol, remember when everybody bad mouthed them about that and everything else and then they went on to 13 wins. Lol
LOL remember very single year you blindly waved Pom Poms and they fell flat on their faces in the playoffs

Wilson absolutely is not the answer.

There is no answer other than pollard. Is pollard or you don’t use it at all
I’d prefer to sign rather than tag. It’s so much easier to manage the cap. But we have 2 real playmakers on offense in lamb and pollard. You can’t let pollard walk
Wilson could be signed for far less than his tag price and I’d love to keep him
I think he plays with an intensity that the D feeds off of. But he’s not a 14 mil player

Their overall return on investment for the offense was atrocious this past year.

So many huge disappointments for what they paid.
What were they 2nd or 3rd in points scored? Something like that.

If they are going to tag Pollard then use the non-exclusive tag which affords Pollard the chance to negotiate with other teams while affording Dallas the right to match or receive draft pick compensation.

Yep. But the bang for the Buck on their top paid players like:

Dak
Zeke
Schultz
Tyron Smith

Just wasn’t up to what they were paying.

If they don't tag Pollard who should they use the tag on and why? Does it make sense to use it on Pollard or someone else?
No, it will be Pollard.

RB is the lowest cost tag of all non special teams positions.

One year with Pollard give them the opportunity to develop a draft pick.

I'm thinking that they will tag Pollard. The doctors better be right. It would be outstanding if they got another good year out of him and drafted another good back.

I worry about Pollard coming off a significant injury. His burst is what makes him special. I'm hoping they can work out a deal.

The problem with losing Pollard is that's one more hole to fill. He is basically the only RB with a damn on the team. Sure, you can (hopefully) find a mid-round back to take his place- but that's one more pick you can't use to improve the team. JJ may feel backed into a corner.

This team has devoted an absurd amount of resources to the position. Cutting Zeke might make you feel better, but you're still stuck with the ramifications of his ridiculous contract either way.
