Are you one of those concern trolls?

After the early games, the Eagles-Packers game became more important for us, according to playoffstatus.com.

An Eagles win would give us a 66% chance of making the playoffs but only a 24% chance of winning the division.

A Packers win would give us only a 60% chance of making the playoffs but would raise our chances of winning the division to 30%.

The only thing I can look forward to on bye weeks when Dallas doesn't play are hoping our division rivals lose.

The problem with these kinds of analyses is that they're based on some evaluation of relative team strength, but don't account for how those evaluations will change after the games.

I'm guessing that the epic beatdown that the Packers laid on the Eagles dropped the Eagles' strength rating more than a bit, and that that effect swamps the small difference in the calculations before the game.

Oh, I see that playoffstatus.com is updated. They have us at 65% playoffs and 38% division, so yeah, the change in their evaluation of Eagles was the most significant change.

That difference in our chances is because the results of all of yesterday's games are now included in their calculations. The pregame percentages were based only on the result of the Eagles-Packers game. The Cardinals-Lions result probably accounts for the difference because it helps keep the Cardinals out of a wild-card tiebreaker with us.

Yes, that's certainly true. But presumably their evaluation of the strength of each of these teams has also changed as result of yesterday's games.

Why is that?

Greenbay winning helps Dallas to have a better shot of winning their division.

Thus they make the playoffs.

You were late to this. I was being sarcastic responding to another user basically saying if Green Bay won yesterday we wouldn't make the playoffs
