Exactly. The only reason Bernie was activated, and LC was deactivated, was because Bernie can backup both C and OG. LC is the better OG, but he can't backup multiple positions. Leary isn't practicing. So, if you don't practice, you don't play. LC will get his baptism against Cox with Bernie resuming his usual backup role. If LC plays well, we may have witnessed Leary's last start and he'll be the one inactive on gamedays.

I hadn't heard that -- maybe La'el will get the job if he shows up better in practice. OR -- it could be Collins gets subbed in for Bernie if he's having problems with Fletcher. Anyhow, it should be interesting to follow.

I think you are right. Usually you go always go with the vet unless the rookie is so good that you can't keep him out of the line up. I am hoping that's the case. It is a tough test with Cox though.

My feeling is it will be Bernadeau as the starter. I just think they trust him a little more. I would bet almost anything though that Jerry wants LC to be the starter.

After re-watching that game last night.....It's Collins for me for the rest of the year. Ron Leary was brutal Sunday night. Continually got pushed backwards......didn't reach the second level to cut off the LBers...not once did he complete assignment...and it was his guy making the tackle all the time. Our run game would have been great if it wasn't for Leary's sub par play. IMO I think part of his injury was because he was getting pushed backwards all night long by Hankins. You would think 2 big guys would normally stalemate each other....not Sunday Night.

Berny or Collins? I'd like to see Collins because I want the nastiest run blocking line out there. But I can see them deferring to Berny because he's more experienced at picking up inside blitzes and stunts.

I would like to see Collins start. Berny is so valuable playing the backup for center and guard.

Easy answer. Leary if he is healthy enough. Leary said today he was ahead of schedule and it would be a game time decision based on how he felt.

If Leary can't go, then its whoever practices better this week between Collins and Bern. The staff knows what Bern can do, so they are most likely putting the work load on Collins to see if he can earn their trust. So if Collins wows them, I would expect him to start. If he doesn't then Bern will go.

I think Leary is saying that because he knows he might not get his job back in a contract year with studs all around to make him look better than he is. Regardless I view his as a good starter in the league.

actually its not physical with Bernie- he can pretty much go toe to toe with anyone as regards strength and quickness. Its between the ears that has always been his weakness.
