Who starts at MLB?

McClain hasn't really shown up. Who knows if he's even in shape enough to start and play a significant number of snaps?

He actually flashed a couple plays vs Denver if you we're watching....An inside blitz that he got there pretty quick (Surprised me w/ his speed) and a sideline tackle that he showed he could cut off the corner to make a tackle on a RB.

Until he shows he can't do it...I think you roll w/ him.

I hope they start Rolando. Hitchens is terrible. They should try to have Rolando play as much as possible. He looks rusty but at least when he has a chance to make a play, he doesn't whiff. His problem is he is rusty and doesn't always hit the right gap or over pursues a play but with some playing time I think/hoping he'll get better at diagnosing the plays as it unfolds in front of him.

McClain has not only failed to help bolster the defense against the run, but he has also shown to be a liability in pass coverag

At Oakland that's great news

Durant is too small, and Hitchens just seems to get taken for a ride for a few yards after contact. McClain is the best guy for the job.

I guess leading the team in tackles in extended action isn't showing up. He has made mistakes but did make some plays in preseason

He isn't close to leading the team in tackles. He has 5 solo and 6 assisted tackles.

FWIW, Durant was on NFL radio this morning and said that the starters at LB and up front haven't been decided yet. They will find out at practice. He was irked by the line of questioning about a bad Cowboys defense.

We might have LB's by committee. You need your best guys out there. Not sure if the team knows who are our best guys right now. I can envision "waves" of LB's coming in on certain downs depending on down and distance and all LB's will see about the same playing time with the exception of Durant and Wilber who might lead the team in downs played.

From Twitter reports:

Durant-Hitchens- Carter in practice right now.

McClain tweaked his knee in a tackling drill earlier and is now a spectator.

I haven't heard weather it's going to be Rolando or Durant.

Durant.

Cowboys appear to want McClain to do it but he isn't ready yet. Durant knows the system.

I'd expect to see Carter, Durant and Wilber to start the season and then when McClain has a full grasp of the system and gets his body where it needs to be, we'll see a shift because he's a better linebacker than Durant.

Whether that shift will mean Durant ends up in Carter's spot probably depends on how Carter plays in these first few games.

Pretty much start McClain at MLB and put durant at WLB where he us good and live with the learning curve
Wd have made our bed now we must lie in it

i mean if we don't know who our starting lber's are now this isn't going to be good. You gotta put a guy in that spot and let them familiarize themself with that position. Can't keep switching them around.

Report is that McClain didn't participate in practice today due to "tweaking his knee" hitting a sled before practice (via talking Cowboys).

This is incredible to me. It's one thing to not have much talent, but how can you at least not have everyone's position settled yet?

If the players aren't that good, at least give them tons of reps so they can play fast and don't make any mental errors. We're doing just the opposite.

That's what I've been saying all summer. This defense has not had their starters, (whoever they may be), play one snap of football together throughout camp. How are they suppose to be better than last year?
