I understand that they are the highest paid what does that have to do with playing the game of football? Don't touch the richest guy out there? These QB's for the most part are not little guys. Guys like McNabb and Culpepper are not brought down easy and if you don't go after them like any other player with the ball your going to get burned and defensive players who ease up find themselfs out of a job because they allowed it to happen. You put a uniform on your a football player your paid to play football and if they don't want to get hit then play another sport
You are still missing the point. It has nothing to do with playing the game or how tough a QB is ar whether they can take a hit or how big they are.
It's M-O-N-E-Y...get it? Look, Aikman got pounded...and pounded hard. He was as tough as they get. But what do you think Jerry Jones thought every time Aikman got laid out and had to come off the field with a concussion?
That's an investment about to lose it's worth.
I agree, McNabb and Culpepper are big guys...and they play like it. Not afraid. But that ain't the point.
I'll tell you what. You are the owner of an NFL franchise. And your brand new just drafted franchise QB is starting his first game. He goes back to pass and WHAM!...there goes his knees.
Now what? Hmmmm? What just happened to the $25 million you just paid him in signing bonus? Can you say "flush"? Whether he comes back...he may never be the same.
That's why the rules are there. Can't make it any clearer. You get it or you don't. The player, the game ain't got squat to do with the rules.
It's M-O-N-E-Y! Period.
