Who thought our running game looked bad last night?

In that game, there was really no rhyme or reason to our blocking scheme. I'd see the play develop, and the left interior of our Oline would get a decent push downfield, a few yards. However, the LT was back at the LOS, the RT was doing nothing, and the RG only got a yard downfield.

They seemed to have absolutely no direction. The offensive line is ineffective if they are not all working in unison. From the looks of the line over the weekend, they have almost no chemistry. Because it seemed like they were working apart, they created an almost inescapable "pocket" for our RBs. It was pathetic run blocking, really.

Don't even get me started on how garbage our TEs (at least the backups) were when called on to block in the backfield.

The only good thing I can say is that there were no DL in the backfield waiting and smoking a cigarette while waiting for our RB's like last year.

good point....its not like seattles DL wasn't trying...i think they did ok with 3 games to go all you can hope for is the OL to figure some things out and hope they get more consistant when everybody is on the field

As much as I was happy with the pass blocking I saw I was not thrilled about the run blocking. However it appeared to be pretty vanilla running plays up the middle and I think the strenght will be more along the lines of sweeps and cut backs. One thing they did show on a couple of series was the ability to pick up short yardage in 3rd downs with the running game.

I agree completely. You have to wonder how much this sorting on the OL has hurt that chemistry. I hope that after this week, we make a final decision on right tackle and center and leave it alone for a few weeks to build that chemistry.

As for your last point, great observation. Fasano didn't look impressive blocking at all. That was one of the major takeaways I had.

saturday night wasnt the finished product..if T.O. was playing i bet the running game would look amazing

As a whole, I thought our Oline blocked pretty well, individually, which is why it didn't look like we were seeing the jailbreaks we saw last year into the backfield. The trouble was, that didn't open any holes. And the TEs were consistently getting blown up, in the backfield. Unacceptable for a lead blocker. I didn't notice it so much on Fasano, probably because early it just looked like a pile up every time we ran, and it was difficult to distinguish anyone.

I doubt it. It's not like Seattle wasn't respecting our pass game, and just stacking the line. They played pretty straight up, so TO wouldn't have helped that.

With as much as Sparano has been talking about how pleased he is with the "depth", I would hope Seattle's third and fourth team wasn't busting into the backfield. They did alright, but I never saw one play where it was just completely impressive and that goes for the whole game. I would give them a "C+" overall. I was more impressed with what players like McQuistan did, than I was what Rivera (nice false start again, which plagued him last year) and Colombo did. Petitti did look much better, albeit against backups.

Fasano got very little push on the plays where I watched him specifically. Tony Curtis did better from what I observed.
