Who wants to guess Ezekiel Elliott rookie season yards?

No sir, I don't want it at all, but I don't want a rookie to get overused and be done in a few years like Marion Barber. That's why I called him the chairman of the board. :)

But that flies in the face of why people screamed we had to have Elliott. That we needed a real bell cow, not a RBBC approach.

And those who thought taking a TB at 4 was a waste said one reason we shouldn't take a TB at four is they can get beat up and overworked and breakdown quicker than most players.

And here we are a month after the draft with Elliott fans talking about not overusing him because TBs can get abused and how we should use somewhat of a RBBC approach.

You really can't make this stuff up.

It is a matter of degree.

I think we all agree the 400 carries that Murray got was far too much, when the next 2 cow bell type backs (Bell and McCoy) got 290 and 310 carries?
Murray slowed down a lot in the 2nd half, so he was not optimal for the playoffs when you want optimal performance.
May be Murray would have had a little more burst on that critical play in GB and not gotten stripped by diving defender.

Let say there are 450 carries for the year.
For rookie year, Elliott can get 250-300 carries, or 15-20 carries per game - preferably ~15.
That is in the range of what other cow bell backs get in the league.

The remaining 200-250 carries would go to other backs.
For example, Morris can get 150 carries for non-passing downs and running out the clock.
DMC get ~100 on certain passing downs.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the "pot" of carries was more like 500 as they were in 2014.

Who cares?

I want touchdowns and wins. The how is irrelevant.

Grrrr good points all around. But for me. I don't want EE to be overworked, but hey if he is the next Emmitt and line of great Cowboy runners...I'm game. Really good points man.

I'm not saying give him 30 carries a game here. I'm saying give him his 15-20. Bell seems to be doing just fine as a bell cow, so do Peterson, Lynch, and others. It's not a matter of if he's getting 40 carries a game. I'm saying he's not getting limited carries which suggests under 15 a game. That's where I'm going with it

That's what I'm saying. If we run it 30 times. Zeus gets 15. Dmac and Morris split the rest. RBBC.

it seems more a semantic issue.

actually 15*16 games =240 - that is pretty close to what bell cows get.
in 2014, murray got 400, but 2nd and 3rd most were 310 and 290 carries.

Id like to see him top out around 250 carries. He has never had much more than that and that was not against nfl players. Give him a year to adjust to the 16 game regular season. I am not really interested in hik looking like a star until january and then falling apart.

I'll say 1100 yards and 10 TDs

There are already monumental expectations and hype for him... He would need to run for over 2000 yards and score 30 TDs at this rate in order to be considered worthy of his selection...
