Who wants to guess Ezekiel Elliott rookie season yards?

At least he put a number of touches, a lot of people are predicting 800 - 950 yards and not mentioning how often he'll get the ball. I really hope that a lot of people are seriously underestimating how Zeke will perform behind this line, but it might just be that they are throwing out what they consider a decent number of yards for a rookie without giving it any more thought. To me, less that 1,000 yards would be disastrous, simply because I think he'll get the ball 17 - 20 times per game on average, and I can't imagine him not having a better ypc than McFadden. Behind this line, with Romo there to keep the defenses honest, I can't imagine how he'll do worse than the guys we've had back there recently, unless he's a bust.

i think some people are predicting number of yards and back calculating the ypc.
Some forget that DMC got the 5.1ypc with Romo out.

Marion Barber never even had a 1,000 yard season and in his biggest year he didn't carry the ball 13 times a game. He was far from overused.

In 2008 he averaged 15.86 and in 2009 he averaged 14.26 carries a game. He did get 975 yards in 2007 so he was close to 1000. What is really amazing is that half his career he averaged under 4 yards a cary.

Yes, but in his most successful season (his biggest year) - the one in which he gained 975 yards - he carried the ball less than 13 times a game. When they bumped up his carries his average fell precipitously and he couldn't gain the same yardage. The guy simply couldn't carry the load, he was a change of pace back with a brutal style. The fact that they threw money at him under those conditions still makes me cringe. And I'm convinced that the bad taste left from the Barber debacle played a big part in not re-signing Murray. If you recall the first offer the made to Murray was actually less than the guarantee that they gave to Barber. They had run Murray into the ground by then, but still. It seemed they didn't want to spend to re-sign a RB - maybe because the last time they did it was Barber, and he basically took the money and laughed all the way to the bank - 3 yards at a time.

I predict 1200 yards rushing and around 250 receiving. To justify where he was picked we need 1500 yards rushing and over 2000 from the LOS.

1800 total yards from scrimmage. 1550 rushing, the rest receiving. and my prediction for td's is 11.

Nope. He's not getting all the snaps. I hope you were joking.

No running back in the league gets all the snaps. Limited snaps for a guy the team just invested 26 million into? No way. He's the bell cow 100%

Bell cows get run into the ground real quick. 26 million on a guy with worn out wheels is the definition of a bad invrstment. Especially if you going to need him for a playoff run.

As the title says, let's all guess how many yards Elliott will get in his rookie reason. I'll say at 1500 yards for his first season in the NFL.

If Romo is healthy: 1800 yards rushing and 360 yards receiving with 21 total TD's.

He will get 300 to 350 carries.

Peterson had 1,300 yards on 238 carries and 12 TDs his rookie year. I expect similar production from Zeke, anything less is unacceptable.

1,300 with 8 TDs.

Im keeping my expectations "low" but McFadden had a huge year for a guy that only started 10 games.

What utter nonsense this is.

You go by the flow of the game, you don't think about your "playoff run" before you have a playoff spot wrapped up. If Zeke is being incredibly productive, you feed him the dang ball. If he can't handle that, then once again, why the hell was he taken in the top 5?

I'm not saying give him 30 carries a game here. I'm saying give him his 15-20. Bell seems to be doing just fine as a bell cow, so do Peterson, Lynch, and others. It's not a matter of if he's getting 40 carries a game. I'm saying he's not getting limited carries which suggests under 15 a game. That's where I'm going with it
