Did any of you really expect to see Mike Strahan man-handled by a rookie 6th rounder starting his 12th game and his 2nd game against Strahan? C'mon. I thought Tucker had more problems on Sunday with Umenyiora. And didn't Columbo play LT for the Bears?

He's got virtually no experience starting, but that still more games than Tucker at that position. Colombo has always had the physical attributes you want in an OT, and he also had a great rep as a hard worker, good clubhouse guy, etc. I'm not sure what went wrong in 3 years in Chicago, but that will determine whether he ever gets on the field for the Cowboys, not the play of Tucker or Petitti.

BP may want to see him in the off-season program before he gives him a shot to start. At this point he's all potential.

And can we cool it with the "Please-feed-me", "Pie-eaty" crap? Rob's father was kind enough to join this board and give us some insight into the life of a Cowboy, and that kind of disrepect is just childish and stupid.

i think the issue with Columbo was injury related

I didn't even mention anything about my comfort level.

And I don't care *** you "Say". He's played in 12 games now, he's not a rookie anymore. His inability to block a DE one on one is hurting our offense.

And Strahan is still good, but he's not in his prime.

Plus, what about the other games? He's played poorly against the NON HoF players as well.

I guess you missed that little quote where Tom Coughlin said Strahan was having one his best seasons of his illustrious career.

Also, you have to consider the fact that he is probably starting hit his rookie wall. Alot of rookie wear down late in the season because they are just not use to playing this long.

He is drafted in the 6th round
He is learning a new position
He has gone up against some of the best in the business

Makes sense to me that he would struggle. But I dont give up on kids that fast, I like to see how they bounce back.

Tucker, Rivera (especially), Johnson and Gurode are all culprits in this scheme as well as the BIG pink elephant in the room...Sean Payton's lowsy adjustments.

Petitti played well early in the season and even earned some acolades and a spotlight from Madden, who knows a little something about offensive lineman on Monday Night. The Kid is struggling now, so I dont know which player will emerge, but I am will to wait.

Bill Parcells wants to win just as bad as anybody and this guy would have definately been benched if Parcells had no faith in the kid or had another alternative.

We cant draft a Ralph Neely, Rayfield Wright, Larry Allen type every draft...

Correct me if I am wrong please, but Strahan got 2 sacks right, and one of them was when he totally ran over Rivera wasn't it?

I recorded the game. I may waste sometime tonight seeing where he got his sack.

I know they were moving around alot, like they always do and a bunch of times him and the other pass rusher (dont want to butcher his name) was lined up on the right together.

And that means absolutely nothing. If what coaches said were gospel Delaroy Stewart would be a dominant DT. You remember stewart, right?

Even more reason to play someone else. We can't make a push for the playoffs if our already below average RT is hitting a wall.

What is Peyton suppose to do? Keep more people in to block? Oh wait, WE ALREADY DO THAT.

Madden has never uttered a negative word about a player in his broadcasting life.

Hey man, tell him that we're sending him a big virtual bear hug and that better times lay ahead. Petitti's struggling but I see no reason why he can't be a future Kevin Gogan/Mark Tuinei type of player for us. I think we have to draft the best available O-lineman next year. The whole line, including Petitti, will be better for the increased competition.

I think most of us were already expecting the Giants DE's to dominate don't get too down.
Kansas City is a different story. I would love to see Rob give up zero sacks this game or at least show some good signs. Rob is gonna be crucial to our playoff run I hope he can perform well.

The offensive coordinator could have done alot of things.

-He could have MANNED up and told Tucker he was going to fly solo and we were only going to protect the Rookie or anybody that had to deal with Strahan.

-He never ever adjusted to the Giants putting both Strahan and the other guy on the same side. He could have moved the pocket slightly as Drew Bledsoe has done a number of rollouts to his right and hit Witten, Keyshawn and JJ on an out pattern.

-You do not always have to have an extra Tight End to block. He could have had Witten, Campbell, and Keyshawn throwing "Crack Blocks" on their way to their routes.

-Julius Jones got 9 Yards on the very first Draw Play from the Shotgun formation we ran. I dont remember seeing that formation alot after that, that would have been a nice adjustment.

-The coordinator, whoever it is, never EVER did any freakin motion. It was line up and we are just going to come straight at you. If I am a Middle Linebacker on the other side, I WILL take that all day. I dont have to think what is going to be called, I dont have to worry about the Offense getting a mismatch after they motion, I KNOW what you are going to do because I SAW the damn film.

And Nope, Madden isnt in to trashing a guy. One thing he does is give props to people he feels deserved it at the time and at that time, Petitti was playing pretty good.

Anybody will tell Strahan is having one of his best seasons and he has said that on two sports programs I have seen him. Im gonna the native of Houston, Texas the benefit of the doubt that he knows himself and his career.

If Cortez makes a kick

If Cundiff makes a kick

If Zimmer doesnt call the same soft gushy cover 2 defense 2 times in a row to give up two touchdowns in 4 minutes

We are not talking about Rob Petitti today. But like Don Meredith use to say, If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, wouldn't it be a Merry Christmas? So we are stuck talking about a 6th Round Draft choice getting absolutely SCHOOLED by a (I will tone down the "Hall of Fame Rhetoric" for ya) Pro Bowler.

I would rather be talking about the OC and Mr. Rivera the "8 million signing bonus" man.

i didn't tape the game, but i think tucker was beaten by uminyora. the tuck caused fumble came from the middle of the line.

If Tuck beats Tucker, causing Bledsoe to fumble, shouldn't we be able to invoke the Tuck rule?:D

We know Rob is struggling a bit and giving 100% just keep encouraging him and I'm sure next season w/ a full offseason under his belt the game will slow down for him alot and he will be much stronger and improved.

I'm willing to see if Petitti improves this week against KC, but at some point you have to go with something else if the problem continues. You don't think BP was upset about putting Gurode in and having the fumble on the first drive - but with the way Al was playing he didn't have a choice. Make no mistake, Al was benched to send a message.

"If" Colombo is healthy and knows the playbook, I would expect the same treatment.

Sometime having a player (esp. a young one) step back and watch for a while isn't always a bad thing.

I agree. There's a fine line between valuable game experience and traumatizing game experience.

I disagree, BP challenged Rob to lose weight after the draft and he hit all the numbers. He responded well to the challenge.

As I have said in a few threads, challenge the guys, tell them they are getting no help and they have to hold their own. Make them fight for it, get some attitude and stop all this cover up.

Will they give up some plays? I am sure they will, but if call a few more passes on 1st down rather than on 2nd and 8 you will get less pressure!! On 2nd and 10, keep them honest with some screens and draw plays that JJ runs very well!

One thing I guess I don't understand about our tackles is...

1) tucker played RT for 15 games last year. He wasn't great but he played there and that was his position. Now Rob, he played left tackle for 3-4 years with Pitt and did all right. Wasn't he all Big East or something ? Shutdown freeney and the likes.

So why the heck are they BOTH playing opposite sides now ???

I mean, do I know if they would play better ? No...but sheesh why are they both playing new positions when Rob has been a LT for years and Tucker has a year under his belt at RT ?

Some things like that really mystify me ???
