huh? I'm just saying that I don't think it is likely that we'll see any more big spending on the OL. We have 3 guys with HUGE contracts. I can't see us spending on a LeCharles Bentley -- you just can't spend so much all in one place.

I don't love Johnson - frankly I'm bitterly disappointed in his play this year. But I understand free agency and cap management and I know we aren't blowing huge money on a replacement.

Now if there is a nice C-G player in round 2 or 3, that I could see.
Why can't we ? We definitely have the cap room. Rivera has a big contract but I really don't see him being around for awhile unless he makes some strides, but it looks like he is at the end of his career. Center is a huge need, plus there is a probowl player out there as a FA. Some people were saying before this season we couldnt spend money on a CB FA, and think where we would be if we didnt have Henry this season, except for this pain in the groin injury he has he's been great all year.
I just don't see the "too much money in one spot" as a reasonable excuse here. We NEED a center badly, and he is not on this roster, I would still love to get Bentley, and then draft a tackle and guard .

Maybe its semantics but I'm having a little trouble with the absurd notion that WE would start players at OT who WE have never seen even practice with our team.

But I had the same reaction when many people celebrated Cortez being cut in favor of someone we didn't know.

Personally I have a problem with the adage "Anyone has to be better." No, they really don't.

Now if they're showing some promise in practice...

Semantics Hiero -- We CAN spend on anything we want. We likely will not CHOOSE to. And what makes you think that NO is going to let one of their only good players get away?

I've seen a lot worse than Rob Petiti. Remember Solomon Page (I think that was his name).
At this point, Petitti is not playing as well as Solomon Page did. Not saying he won't be better in the future, but he isn't there now. Page was a weird one. For a couple years he looked like a promising young talent and then it all went pear-shaped in his last year in Dallas. Classic example of a bad attitude leading to poor play.

Why would LeCharles want to stay there? I think the Saints are going to get bailed out and allowed to keep some of their main guys, but otherwise I think he would be on his way out of that horrible situation.
