Who would you trade to get more draft picks...?

No one. Let's take a first rounder. Maybe a wide reciever. Hopefully Brewster can compete. I know Free can. Our OL got exposed. A rookie won't be ready at OL or any other position. A game breaking wr could help in a limited role.

Barber probably needs to go as he is too slow and doesn't break tackles anymore. Choice would take his spot and probably perform better.

Now that I think about it Jones once again overpaid for numerous players. Barber, Williams, Hamlin, Adams, Crayton etc........

Marion was injured IMO our ground game situation is fine. If we can lose williams, newman or hamlin for a 2nd or higher you gotta do it right away. Maybe package in a future second or thrid. If we can get a talented young safety and tackle this team will be contending for seasons to come.

Before you guys want to ship Newman out of town after he had a very good year, not among his very, very best years; however, you might want to remember that the biggest deep threat in the NFC is in your division.

Newman shut him down three times this year.

Without "that blanket" on Jackson, you don't play a home playoff game.

We could get a nice draft pick for Bennett. I still think he's going to be a good player, but Phillips showed more than he did late in the season.

you act like Newman shut him down 1 on 1.

Maybe I'm underrating Newman, but I see him as a fill in corner at this point. Teams know who to throw away from and its #21. Now I'm not saying can the guy, but if you plug Scandrick in, he could fill that role just as well.

Go ask Roddy White how hard Newman hits.

Go ask Steve Smith, "the real one" in Carolina, how good a player Terence Newman is in the NFL.

Newman and Jenkins > Asomugha

I recall a certain CB in Oakland getting roasted by Miles Austin.

Why didn't he shadow him all over the field instead of watching Austin torch his team.

Deion Sanders would have told the other CB to get out of the way. I've got 19.

I still think Newman is a good corner i'm just sick of seeing him make "business decisions" if you know what I mean. he did it several times vs the Vikes and has for a little while now.

i don't know why, but for some reason i could see us compiling some picks to move up.

i think a lot depends on what happens with the CBA talks....but i just could see us moving up for some reason, maybe not in the 1st round, but in the 2nd or 3rd.

Who knows? In my view, the only position worth trading a ton of picks for would be LT and only then if it was one of those clear, blue-chip, can't miss, franchise LT's.

If it was up to me, I'd want to bring in no more than 4-5 players. I'd have to look more carefully at who we may lose in FA but I'd target a LT and a Guard. After that, I'd go S, CB, and MLB.

Taking any personality out of it, I'd imagine we could get good trade value from MB3. Choice fills a similar role and, if the past season is any indication, I'd think Jones ends up with 50% of the carries next year.

Finally, if it was me, I'd quietly see what I could get for Roy. If it's clear that move was a mistake (and I think it is), better to correct that mistake ASAP and move on. Give Austin, Crayton, and (dare I say it) Tree a chance to develop as a unit. Turn the (likely) 2nd round pick for Roy into something we can build around - lesson learned.

Toward the end of the game yesterday, some Viking caught a pass in the right flat and Newman was literally backing up to avoid the tackle. I was SCREAMING at him through the TV. If I'd been the coach, I'd have benched his butt right then. On the spot. I'd have grabbed him by his jersey and walked his butt to the bench.

I dont think we have anyone to trade, that we'd actually be willing to trade, that you could get anything worthwhile from.

What do you think people are going to give for Bobby? A 5th rounder? Maybe. That's a waste as we're most likely not going to find a 5th round pick to replace him with.

Barber? You wanting a 5th to 7th for him and to have to eat the huge cap hit for moving him? No one is going to give you much for him either cause pretty much everyone has gone to the 2 or more runningback game.

How about Roy Williams? He's hated right? Do you think you're going to get your 1st rounder back? How about taking that wonderful cap hit for moving him?

You're not going to move any of the guys, and get anything worthwhile in return, that people don't want here and the ones people would give us something good for like Ware are guys we're not even thinking about trading.

I can't stand Newman. I think it's time to clean house again. Mrs. Newman, Barber, and Spears can look elsewhere.

I'd wager money that two out of those three will be with the team come September.

And while I'm not a big Barber fan at the moment, I'm having a tough time convincing myself that any team would offer much for him in the way of trade value, so I'm feeling 50/50 that all 3 will be in Cowboy's uni come September.

Even though alot will say Carpenter I'm not opposed to resigning him after next season for a backups salary. He played quite a fews snaps this year and is able to fill in to an extent when one of the starters needs a breather.

Want a high 1st round pick you're going to have to trade a guy like Miles.
Anything less won't get you there.

Of course, you lose the majority of your offense production....
