Who would you trade to get more draft picks...?

IMO the only guys who would fetch anything of significant value (i.e a 1st round pick) are Austin, Spencer, F. Jones, Jenkins, Ratliff. In other words, young, productive players who are entering their primes and who are still playing on their first contracts/tenders or have a very reasonable contract (Ratliff). However, these guys are obviously not going anywhere as they are part of our core for the next few years, along with Romo, Witten, Ware, etc. I do believe Bennett, Choice, Free and maybe a few others like James and Sensy have some trade value (2nd or 3rd rounder), but the only ones I'd part with are Bennett and Choice. Because of their high salaries or age or injury history or all of the above, Flozell, Barber, Newman, Brooking, Hamlin, Colombo, Crayton etc. have more value to us than other teams. That being said, I'd listen to offers for just about anyone not named Romo, Witten, Ware, Ratliff, Jenkins or Felix.

Jerry.

I'm sure any one of 500 GM's could at least win one playoff game in 13 years.

I will be in the vast minority here but I would probably trade F. Jones for something like a 1 this year and next plus a second rounder, perhaps more. I know its a risky move but I would do it, big risk = big reward. Pretty comfortable with choice and Barber being his back up. However, no way would I trade him to any one in the NFC East and probably not anyone in the NFC.

LOL!

Oh goodness.

First off Felix has yet to actually show he can be the every down, every game, back which is exactly what you'd need to get anything near a 1st rounder for a runningback.

Second off you'd only get a first for probably 2-3 backs in the entire NFL and none of them are named Felix Jones.

Last of all there isn't a single back in the NFL, not even AP or Chris Johnson, who would get you a first this year, next, and a second and you sure wouldn't get all that and then more.

I think that's a GREAT idea! Seriously, I really do.

Now, let me know when you find the GM who'll make that deal, OK?

Yeah, you are probably right, but the Minni trade years ago was ridiculously one sided as well. I think you might be able to find one or two Gms who would make the trade for a one this year and a one next year. Unfortunately one of those GMs is probably Jerry.

There are two things about that trade.

#1: That trade is exactly why you probably won't see trades like that now days.

#2: That was also at a time when every team in the league relied on 1 back and believed in them carrying the load. Runningbacks don't have anywhere near the value anymore that they once did.

That's really the reason we wont get value like that for any of our backs.

Trade Flo.

He is in serious decline and has a big contract. He'll likely be a wreck next year and pull uplame half-way through the year.

That's okay because we have Free who looked as good as Flo did out there against Allen. Allen's sack came against Witten, not Free. It was Colombo and Kosier's man who were harassing Romo all-day.

OTOH, he still looks good enough to get us a 3rd round pick from some team that needs a LT - ?Saints.

I hear ya. We're just in one of those positions where the only guys we have with any real trade value are the guys we wouldnt be willing to trade at this point.
