Whoda thunk: Ellis thriving, Randy Moss not

disagree, moss is a character flawed punk and ellis isn't

The majority of the NFL are character flawed punks... in fact, I'd say the majority of humanity is a bunch of character flawed punks.. :) the NFL is not a priesthood....

If I had a choice between an 0-16 team full of class guys, and a 16-0 team full of show-boating egomaniacs that play as a team, I'll take the latter...

You mentioned character flawed. Assuming you are a Dallas fan, no? And we are talking about whther we would rather Moss or Ellis on OUR team. I think it relates.

I just think its hard to find the best in the league without some character issues. When Moss was killing us as a Viking I bet you didnt think he was a punk. 5-time pro bowler who was arguably the best at WR for thos years. Now he's a Raider your gonna take shots at him... not fair.

Yep, those two were the reasons I bit my tongue on draft day. Moss was the glamorous, dangerous but edgy pick. Ellis was the safe pick.

But it seems that Jerra was always looking for a DE every year. Well, it is difficult to measure a dangerous and swift WR to a consistent, durable DE. But it is fun to speculate on that draft in 1998.

Hey, I think we'll go 9-7 this year. But that might not do it for a playoff spot.
However it is gonna be really fun to watch Romo grow into his position and then really take off.
:star:
Yeah, Romo is surprisingly fun to watch. If he turns out he will make plenty of people look stupid for not drafting him, even Dallas can't claim to have drafted him. Carson Palmer and Tony Romo, could, and that is a sizable could, be the two great/very good quarterbacks to come out in 2003.

They settled for a running back from florida, the third taken in that draft if I'm not mistaken, his name was Emmitt Smith.

I've never heard of him.

He was a beast of a waterboy, a fan favorite too, poured gatorade with the best of 'em.

Id still rather have Moss then Ellis. Moss, TO and Glenn ahhh what a combo that would be. Ellis is stop gap at OLB at best he is most effective rushing the passer from the down position.

Jimmy won 3 super bowls with a team full of character flawed punks.

Moss and Keyshawn would have killed one another and Moss and TO would be a recipe for disaster, it cannot be done, even the pro bowl is hesitant to do it.

We would have beaten Atlanta and won a Superbowl with Moss that year.

Ellis was Pro Bowl material before he broke his leg. He's solid now, but I don't think he's been the same since.

Randy Moss has the same number of Super Bowls that Greg Ellis has.

/thread.

But now Moss is a mere shadow of what he once was. Through seven games this year he has 26 receptions. He's on track to compile only half of the receptions he made in 2003 in Minnisoda. Clearly a player on the decline or at least in bad-team hell.

.

I feel that Moss is not a mere shadow of what he once was. He is playing with terrible offensive players, such as O-linemen and a quarterback. There is no running either, I might add.

Put him on another team with a decent to good quarterback and competent coaches and you will see something different.

Robert Gallery makes Torrin Tucker look like a Pro Bowl Tackle. Andrew Walter is a human pinata. It's actually kind of sad watching the Raiders. They're just that bad. I'm sure Moss will be looking for a way out this offseason.

Last night made me feel embarassed, i hate being embarassed by other people but they embarassed me. "Honey are you watchinng the Raiders?" "What!? God no....it's Baywatch, I'm watching Baywatch dear." I was afraid to admit it.

Ellis did not thrieve on Sunday.....look at the Portis TD run!

Yep, the theory of Ellis thriving right now is really WAY OFF. The guy is playing poorly IMO.

Given the current circumstances both players are in now, it's impossible to compare the two players. Ohio St. could beat the Raiders now. They are really, really bad.

People always misanalyze this kind of draft choice. A guy who is pretty good to good for 15-16 years is going to be worth more than someone who has 3 great years and sucks thereafter.

The value in Ellis is that as a character guy, he's going to do the things to keep himself in shape and therefore be available for a long long time. As far as his competition goes, name a single DE in that draft still with this original team.
