Who's Buying the Groceries?

I know the focus here has been on the HC search, but I for one am worried about who's buying the groceries from here on out.

People can slam Parcells for underachieving if they want but noone can debate the team of Parcells and Ireland were a dramatic improvement from when Jerry was in charge of drafting.

The question is, how does it work going forward? I'd be in favor of giving Jeff Ireland a raise and a a change in title and let him run the draft. Thoughts?

Yes, but the question is how much. I don't think he had final say when Parcells was here.

I think Jerry did have the final say even with BP here but Jerry listened to the input of BP and Ireland. I think that will continue. Jerry is not a stupid man and I do think he has learned from past experiance of what has worked and what has failed.

I'm not down on Jerry, I realized he was going to be involved with this team from the 1st day he entered Valley Ranch and he said as much. During his time here we have seen some great things and have seen some poor but I still believe Jerry will do what ever it takes to make this team a winner. Fans can say what they want but I do think Jerry will do right by this team.

I read an article today that stated BP wanted Merriman and Jerry over ruled him and took Ware. Ware's in the Pro Bowl and sounds like it was Jerry's pick. He gets credit for that. I guess your theory is shot.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was being challenged by a few media members when asked if Phillips would even have as close to the same say-so Bill Parcells did in draft and personnel decisions. Jones basically said, the harder head coaches work in preparation for such tasks, the more he listens. “Bill Parcells might have been the hardest worker we’ve had, so he had a lot of influence,” Jones said. And if they weren’t, they didn’t. Makes sense to me.

Actually what I read, the opposite occured... BP overruled drafting Merriman.

I won't argue about Ireland/Parcells being an improvement, and I haven't heard anyone say Ireland is leaving, although there were stories about Lacewell coming back, but let's also realize there several top three or 4 draftees that failed miserably under Parcells.
