The best male voice - Roy Orbison

The best female voice - Patsy Cline

The best group tie - The Drifters, The Platters, The Beattles

The best voice you've probably never heard of - Anita Humes of The Essex (#1 song on the Billboard US Top 100 in July 1963)

Honorable mention - Dion (not Celine), Lloyd Price, Buddy Holly, Dusty Springfield.

My all-time male, female and group would be Michael Jackson, Anita Baker and Earth Wind & Fire, respectively. Currently, there is so much diversity, which is good, that no one really stands head-and-shoulders above the rest for me.

Frusciante is a bad dude. I don't even like the Peppers since he left them. Does John have any new projects?

He has a bunch of stuff, but not a lot of people listen to him because it's not mainstream. Me? I love the guy...

Here's part of his new album now...

Probably a tie between Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Maynard James Keenan (Tool, APC, and Puscifer). They're both geniuses who have an ability to capture raw emotion in unique ways. Both are true originals to whom I never get tired of listening. To this day I discover new, subtle things in songs of theirs that I've heard countless times before.

If those groups never existed, my choice would probably be Zeppelin.

Allman Brothers Band

The Doors

Creedence Clearwater Revival

George Strait

Alan Jackson

That's a good list. You're an old fart.

My favorite of all time is Maria Callas.

Elvis could sing anything opera, soul, gospel, blues, rock and roll, yada.

Eric Clapton and Duane Allman greatest guitarists.

Muddy Waters, BB King, Eric Clapton, and SRV greatest blues although many many others to consider.

Allman Brothers greatest southern rock and blues band.

Too many favorite songs.

OUSTANDING choice Lodeus. Townes was the best lyricist that ever lived. Unbelievable talent that so few even know about.

Great choice!

Yeah, songs like Saeglopur and Gong are perfect rainy day or long road-trip songs.

If you like Sigur Ros, you'd probably like the Mars Volta and Boards of Canada. Ambient-electronica-trance music is the best.

Sometimes they can be a bit of chore to listen to but in the right mood they're great.
