Why am I getting the feeling?

That at some point before the trade deadline, we trade a player or two?

Ellis, Jones, Crayton and James I'm just getting the feeling one won't be a Cowboy all season.

Ellis is obviously disgruntled...maybe a 4th or 5th?

Jones and Crayton are FAs next year...maybe as high as a 3rd?

James may not fit the scheme...4th or 5th?

If we have a few players step up that are off the radar right now, will we roll the dice, and try to have a real killer draft in 2008?

Why would any team trade a 4th or a 5th for a DE who is griping about his contract, is 32, and coming off an Achilles tear?

Or for that matter, how is Bradie James going to get us a 4th or a 5th with the kind of season he had?

You're trades are way off IMO. Unless the Lions are involved, no one is gonna give a 4th or 5th for an aging DE coming off of an achilles rupture.

Ironically, the Lions QB is the one that called out James. Doubtful even they would give us a conditional 7th.

I don't think any trades will happen this year, I think the FO wants to see how this current talent does under Wade this year. Maybe having "a little fun" under Wade will relax the players and let them use their natural instincts this time.

Now, next year might be a different story?

Obviously the word maybe needs to be looked up in the dictionary.;)

I could see a trade or two, but not of a real contributor. Maybe a J Reeves or Nate Jones. Maybe for Tyson Thompson if we think one of the RBs is going to pan out better for us. I could even see a player like Kevin Burnett going someplace if we look to have a log jam.

Not sure where we'd need the depth. I've got my eye open for potential b/u QBs if Johnson ends up not panning out. Maybe one of the Miami guys. Other than that, future mid-or-more-likely-late round considerations only.

Ellis will eventually become too much of a distraction versus his worth...I think Hatcher and Spencer can more than handle his role.

James is going to lose the starting job to Carpenter, IMO, and we have already heard some stuff about the UFA from the mini-camps/OTA.

Crayton is a #3 guy who has never shown he's more than that, and he's about to cost us a lot of money, plus he's nearing 30...If the guys fighting it out for that 4th and 5th WR spot, force us to want to keep 6 and have us thinking, "Damn I want to keep 7," will we try to get something for Crayton?

Jones is in that same boat. The Barber camp is already wanting him as the main guy, and if the 3 guys fighting for that 3rd spot show enough, will we want to get something for JJ while we can?

I could see someone like Tyson being traded for a 6th or 7th, but not anyone more significant than that.

exactly what I meant. You wanting something to happen means nothing.
And I will love to see camp go by and no trades at all. And love the thought of you gritting your teeth. I love to see people get frustrated when something they want does not happen.

Of that group, I see James as the only one being traded--only because we're very deep at linebacker and the likelihood of Carpenter taking over his starting slot.

What's funny is where did I say I wanted any of them to be traded?

I opened up a thread for discussion, about several players that may be in a position of being traded.

It may just be me, but I find talking about football a hell of a lot more interesting than Romo/Carrie.

Trading Ellis, Julius, or Crayton doesn't make any sense to me.

We wouldn't get what Ellis is worth coming off an injury.

Julius is our starter and who trusts Barber + Tyson Thompson or a rookie?

Crayton is the only young WR we have to play when one or both of the old men get hurt or cut.

Now Bradie James? I could see that one. Or one of the other LBs, if he somehow plays well in Wade's quicker defense. But I doubt Bradie has much value around the league, except maybe for a team like Cleveland. I don't know a lot about their ILBs, but Crennel's defense should be similar to Parcells'.

Problem is, I'm sure any potential trade partners would see what Jon Kitna saw.

BTW, you're right -- this beats talking about Tony's current GF any day.

Then you must be ghey!!

:laugh2:

Who is Ellis distracting? I don't see him as much of a distraction.

I dunno BZ.

I often agree with you on stuff but honestly I don't see any of those trades happening.
