Why are people blaming Kellen Moore for the deep throw on 3rd?

You run the ball, if it was 3rd and under 5, maybe a pass to end the game, but at 3rd and 10, you run, make them burn their timeout and punt them deep..it’s not even hindsight, everyone watching knew they should have ran the ball..it was beyond stupid and yet again another reason why this team will never win with this coach

While this is what most people would do, it doesn't make it the right call. Why not take a shot in that situation? Everyone is expecting a run, because that is what you do in that situation, right. so we may can catch them and get it done. The decision is really easy here.. if it's open throw it, if its not, eat it. Any QB with any football IQ could have made that decision. He was staring that side down the entire time, the CB had coverage. Dak has to know not to throw that ball, just eat it. It doesn't matter if a pass was called, the QB is not required by law to throw the ball, its a choice, its 100% his decision to make. He made a bad decsion. I will not blame the OC or HC because they had faith in their QB to make a pee wee level decision. The fault for that play is 10000000000% on Dak and his bad decison.

Dak played a pretty good game overall and we will have a chance in every game if that Dak shows up but on that play, he made a horrible decision because he was playing hero ball and not team ball.

Where would you prefer Dak went with the ball?

I would have preferred he tucked it and ran to his left. He wouldn't get the 1st down but he would not have stopped the clock.

btw, on that play, Tyron and Martin messed up a handoff on the twist by the Jacksonville defensive linemen or Dak may have had more time to make a better throw/decision. That's something I think they will get better at as they play more together. Steele and Martin had that move down pat before Steele got injured.

many that blame him are doing so because there wasn't a shorter route in the play. Before the snap my son and I said "run the ball or short high percentage pass at most"

I cannot wait for the All 22 to come out. Yes Noah Brown went deep.....BUT.....BUT....Dak threw it to him. Maybe the plan was for him to go deep to take the Safety with him thus opening the middle up for something else? All I know is....I highly doubt Noah Brown was the primary receiver on that play. If none of the action was open on the other side....perhaps Dak should have just given himself up to take a sack and force them to use a timeout. But Kellen Moore did not throw that ball deep....Dak did. Heck, even if none of the other wide receivers had created enough separation and Dak did not want to risk throwing an interception....he still could have given himself up and taken a sack to force the Jags to use their TO.

And this is not a bash Dak thread or a bash Kellen Moore thread....this is just a response to so many upset with the play call.
Didn’t everyone go deep?

If you were going to throw on that series, do it on 2md down and make sure it's a high percentage throw. Not that junk.
Yea it was just dumb. I know coaches know more than fans but come on, it doesn’t take an nfl coach to know that all go patterns is just crazy in that situation.

I would have preferred a different play as well. But he was running the play that was called, he got the one-on-one coverage they're trying to get on that play, he made the right read, and he made a good throw. None of what happened there was remotely the QB's fault.

It was not a good throw

No it isn't. That doesn't change the fact that a stupid call was made.

The same stupid decision was made in the first Giants game, but the defense bailed us out. I pointed out the problem with that play call at the time, and that you can't be that dumb again as it could cost you a game. Well, here we are.
That hoopla would have been moot on the pick 6 because the chains would have moved. As for the stupid decision......I agree fully and I'm not a Kellen Moore fan........hence the name I've given.......Air Coryell Jr. I don't like none of his trickeration, phazing players out the game plan (Gallup catching heat that should lie with Air Coryell Jr.)......Next up to get bamboozled is TY Hilton, but he is so excited to get back on the field, right now.

Speaking of the first Giants game.....I had a problem with a 1st and goal play that had Cooper Rush slinging a fade to CeeDee. though successful, but I wondered why not give the ball to Zeke and ask the OL to grab manhood instead of placing Cooper Rush in that situation. Had that been a 103 yd pick 6.......that would have been egregrious. Thus the name Air Coryell Jr.

Ask at any coach at any level, that needs to be a run.

3 go routes with no check-down receiver to ensure they had to use their last timeout if there was nothing open downfield.

No way can anyone convince that was their best chance to pick up the first down to end the game.

They didn't need a "kill shot", they needed a first down or to force them to use a TO, to not accomplish either one is unforgivable. A sack would have been better than that.

Getting 10 yards and a first down would've been a kill shot!

Because taking a shot is a low percentage play. Getting a 1st down there wins the ball game.

It threw the play off. Tyron was pushed into the backfield and Dak panicked.

At that point in the game, the head coach needs to order the O.C. to run it or throw a screen.

The odds of a long bomb working were non existent.
