I understand the hatred from rival NFC East fans but literally everyone I’ve come into contact with since Thursday that isn’t a Cowboys fan (and even people that don’t watch a lick of football) are glad the Cowboys lost to the most successful football player in NFL history.

That doesn’t quite make a lot of sense to me. I understand the boys had a lot of success from the early 70’s to mid 90’s which I’m guessing that’s when most people’s parents were growing up. Is that where the hatred stems from? Their parents hated the success that the Cowboys had and the 5 rings we won during that ~25 year span, but the boys have literally won nothing but a couple playoff games in over 25 years now but people were raised to hate the Cowboys?

I often hear that it’s our fan base, but we fight with each other more than we fight with non-Cowboys fans so I don’t really understand the seeming overall consensus from ‘outsiders’ that the ‘Cowboys suck’ and we have a horrible fan base. I just don’t see it but perhaps I’m biased?

In the 90's people that did not even watch football were suddenly super fans and they were arrogant and pompous to just about everyone else.

When I came back from overseas it was noticable ...... People that mocked cowboy fans 3 years earlier now had Cars painted cowboy colors and wore the triplets jerseys everywhere.

Imagine how the Warrior fans suddenly started acting a few years ago and multiply that by a 1000.

I think cowboy fans are the reason or at least part of it. I mean just look at how we interact with each other and we’re suppose to be fans of the same team.

I think there’s some validity to statement above poster made as well but it may go back even farther than that. Cowboys were hated before Jones took them over but perhaps it’s more now

being dubbed America’s team does not come without its drawbacks

The Boys are one of the most popular teams in the NFL. They are known worldwide for not only their team on the field, but also their cheerleaders, owner, and former players. Not to mention early SB championships.

And the tag, America's Team!

Reason enough to either love them or loathe them.

we are not the most hated team by a long shot, So hated or so loved because of the passion the cowboys bring out of lovers and haters, I think cowboys nonlove depends more on what part of the country you are in, any NFC audience area other than the cowboys area are going to speak harshly about our beloved Cowboys.

You’re right about it being from Dallas’ long term success. Just like people now are hating the Patriots…. They grew to hate Dallas through their years of winning. They beat a lot of teams in their super bowl years. That breeds hate within those fan bases.

Also, it is very presumptuous to call yourself America’s team. That just pisses people off. It doesn’t matter to them that NFL Films started it. The Cowboys have embraced it and people hate us for it.

And, a lot of people (including some Dallas Fans) hate Jerry Jones and the way he fired Tom Landry. Yes, it was decades ago and it was time for Landry to go… but that doesn’t matter to people. They hate Jerry’s salesman personality and simply can’t stand the guy.

Finally, because Dallas is so loved and hated by everyone, all the media are always making stories up to keep them in the news constantly. In a sort of self-perpetuating thing, that also breeds hate because people don’t think a 6-10 team like last year’s squad should always be in the news.

Those are just some of the reasons that so many people Hate Dallas. I’m sure there are more though.

It's probably because most of us Cowboys fans don't give a damn if they hate us.

1. Dallas fans are mostly obnoxious and drone on endlessly about past championships.
2. There is no letup in the media talking about them and people get tired of it.
3. They're not Dallas fans. Hey, not everyone can be the coolest!!!!!!

According to every poll conducted, Jones is the most hated sports owner in all professional sports history and represents the rich and makes sure people know how much he pays for his toys. The stadium, the Boogie Bus, the boat and the Star all had to have the price tags hanging on them.

He insists on media coverage for himself, not just his team, and then reveals an irritating personality. Then shows his true personality giving a pc, probably intoxicated, and dropping F bombs throughout that. Bet parents with kids that are fans just loved that.

But if you want to put a fine point on the basis of the hatred that the anti Cowboys fans have, that are not in the division, point out the pro team that exemplifies "white collar" more than the Dallas Cowboys. They are the most "white collar" franchise in professional sports history. Back in the day, they called that "finesse".

The Dallas Cowboys represent what the majority of just people do not like about their country.

It was no accident that Lombardi's Packers and Noll's Steelers were portrayed as the blue collar, working man's teams and the first thing Parcells did when he showed up was try and change the white collar Cowboys.

And don't get me started on any sports team owner selling his political agenda because we've seen the damage that does here. Better not to know about some things.

I wish that were true but all the whining around here about it tells you otherwise.
All part of the entitlement of Cowboys fans and another reason why Dallas is not liked.

People did not like Dallas fans back in the 60's and 70's and Texas fans in general because they acted as if they created and owned the game. We just let the rest of y'all play it.

We’re the Yankees of the NFL.

The Yankees are nothing like the cowboys though. They are just a baseball team. You never hear anything from the front office and they are not in everyone's face all the time.

The only similarities they have are bandwagon fans who know nothing about the actual team. They both are overloaded with those. How they operate is entirely different.

Yes, so much success in the early years and because the Boys are labeled America's Team. I have accepted the love or hate responses. But, as soon as someone starts to talk about the Cowboys, especially if the boys lose, I start the conversation with the "oh hear comes the love m or hate m response". That immediately tones down the hate responders, all in fun of course. But, do not let it bother you. At the same time when the Boys when win, do not be a sore winner.
