Why are the Dallas Cowboys so hated?

1- Americas Team. What fan wanted to root for a team that wasnt seen as good as Americas Team. Our winning backed the title. The title frustrated fans/players of other teams
2- Early success with Tom Landry. With the exception of maybe 10 games over 25 years we were in every game till the end and usually won. Landry knew how to identify and attack the other teams weaknesses.
3- Jerry Jones. Hes the worst owner in the game. Add arrogance to his personality and the hatred for the team grows

I understand the hatred from rival NFC East fans but literally everyone I’ve come into contact with since Thursday that isn’t a Cowboys fan (and even people that don’t watch a lick of football) are glad the Cowboys lost to the most successful football player in NFL history.

That doesn’t quite make a lot of sense to me. I understand the boys had a lot of success from the early 70’s to mid 90’s which I’m guessing that’s when most people’s parents were growing up. Is that where the hatred stems from? Their parents hated the success that the Cowboys had and the 5 rings we won during that ~25 year span, but the boys have literally won nothing but a couple playoff games in over 25 years now but people were raised to hate the Cowboys?

I often hear that it’s our fan base, but we fight with each other more than we fight with non-Cowboys fans so I don’t really understand the seeming overall consensus from ‘outsiders’ that the ‘Cowboys suck’ and we have a horrible fan base. I just don’t see it but perhaps I’m biased?
They are talked about more than any other team even though they haven't won anything in decades. They are hyped up every year and are nowhere near a championship. Jerry Jones gets more media attention than any owner and looks like a clown.

It started with the whole "Amerca's Team" moniker that we adopted back in the 70's. . Its arrogant and rubs generations of fans the wrong way.

I imagine it's kind of annoying to tune into a sports show, and they talk about one of our 6-10 teams like we're actually important. I would hate it if I turned on Undisputed and some jerk was sitting there talking about the Lions every day.

They hate the Cowboys but still know the name of the players on the team, more than they do the players on their own teams.......its the brand...like coca cola ......good or bad people will tune in.....it was bad in the 70s and peaked in the 90s...it used to be for winning but now its because our owner is always keeping the team relevant in the media....

all the glam and blig in the early years plus the America's Team promotion and the entitled label that stuck to us makes us an easy target.
still we get premier spots. I dont blame bring it

There are so many reasons…most of them stem from jealousy…

More hype, more fans, more TV coverage, most valuable franchise, biggest stadium, the ‘America’s Team’ nickname, snarky fans, etc., etc.

We haven’t been to the SB in over 25 years, but we’re on every Thankgiving. Sports shows talk about Dallas virtually every day. Many people are fans of teams the Cowboys beat in big games…Bills, Broncos, Steelers, Vikings, Dolphins, our NFCE rivals, in state rival Houston. Etc.

If it were due to the fans then the eagles would be the most hated team in sports.

You can say what you want about Dallas fans but there is no way we are worse than the eagles fans.

The other thing about the fans and I've seen this since I became a fan, Cowboys fans struggle with admitting they lost to a better team, there has to be an excuse like the refs cheated us.

I could always tell a certain kind of Cowboys fan by how many times they used the word "if". If the ref doesn't miss that call to John Mackey in the SB, if Jackie Smith doesn't drop that TD pass, if Swann gets called instead of Barnes, if the ref doesn't miss that call on the Dez's catch, If Jimmy doesn't leave after SB 4 we get 4 in a row but "if" is a huge part of the game of football.

The Cowboys lost to a better team Thursday night but they played them straight up, That's good enough for me.
You speak the truth. The Cowboys played a good game and fought hard they just lost to a better team.

The Yankees are nothing like the cowboys though. They are just a baseball team. You never hear anything from the front office and they are not in everyone's face all the time.

The only similarities they have are bandwagon fans who know nothing about the actual team. They both are overloaded with those. How they operate is entirely different.
George Steinbrenner (when he was alive).

Yea you cant even wear the opponents gear in their stadium without risking getting in a fight.

I think non-Cowboys fans get tired of a team still having so much attention despite accomplishing little the last 25 years.
This is it in a nutshell.
This and the "America's Team" moniker.

And nothing wrong in that. They kept the starting 22 of the champs together which in this day of FA was quite remarkable.

Some were down on that loss but they looked better than I expected and I was actually encouraged for this season.

Americans do NOT like being told what to do.

You bill a team...any team...as "America's Team" people are going to push back.

"That ain't my team! Don't tell me which team I should like! In fact, I HATE that team!"
