I think they are avoiding 3rd and long makes it much easier to keep the chains moving, and then when 3rd and long comes up they convert

We are winning because we got back to our winning formula of 2014 and got an elite runner. We tried to go cheap last year and paid for it.

That's the only way this team can win

no they arent, but they havent been on the field for long periods, they are better rested thanks to dak and offense.
Mo is the big surprise, he has upped his game beyond what anyone thought he could, so this has been a big factor.
The rookie brown is doing some good things too.
But again I think from a mental standpoint this is all the "Dak effect" he is a hard worker, serious, and wants to win not show off
or dance or be on tv etc.
And now team knows he can win the games if they play good too.

If you work around someone like Dak, it will cause you to want to be better and try harder yourself.

Funny thing this game , twill who had a good game, was going out of bounds when we wanted the clock to run !!
Hopefully he can learn when to go out and when not to.

Let me ask you a serious question. Do you think Romo is not a hard worker, not serious or wants to show off more than win? Because if you answer no to those questions than the answer you are grasping for is not really Dak. You want to think the entire team is better because of Dak, honestly? You think he's making the defense better just by being so Dakly? Did Dak lay hands on Mo and heal him in the offseason?

As for time of possession, we were 10th in the league last year with 31:07. We are second in the NFL this year with 33:48. How tired do you really think the defense is getting in that 2:41 difference?

I like what Dak has brought to the team, and he's been very good (amazing considering where he was expected to be), but he's not causing the defense to keep other teams out of the endzone. Unless he's secretly been lining up at safety or LB they are doing that all on their own.

And to expound on my previous point, I'd say that the defense has been improved more by changes on the defensive side than on the offensive side. Each unit spends the majority of its time working with guys on that unit. It's easy to point to Dak and say,"We added DAK!" but the defense was likely more helped by the removal of guys like Hardy and McClain, who were not hard workers and simply skated by on supreme talent. In Hardy's case he may have been a hard worker on the field, but he was in no way a professional. He wanted to drink and miss meetings, and wasn't held out of games as a result. McClain has never been a worker, if it were up to him he'd just show up on Sundays and play his *** off. When those are your veteran influences the unit will suffer. The defense saw those guys in meetings (or saw that they didn't bother to show up) and the lack of consequences had a trickle down effect. Get rid of guys like that, add in guys like Jaylon Smith (who is by all accounts a very hard worker and great guy even though he's injured) and the defensive unit overall will look better.

Also, we had a flukish and historically bad turnover ratio last year - and that's not all because of the QBs. Our defense simply couldn't get the ball. We generated only 11 turnovers in a year - nearly 1/3 of the average for the previous 2 seasons. This year we've already got 5 (still not a great number) and last year we finished the entire season with 11, and that took a huge late season push. I'm not sure we had a single turnover in the entire first half of the year last season. I'd say the offense helps the turnover numbers, because it puts pressure on the opposing offense, but it doesn't cause it to go from 28 to 11 in a season. Sometimes you just don't get the lucky bounce, and last year every bounce seemed to go away from us - which is how you end up on the historical lists.

We have a passing attack we have a passing attack that hits the 10 - 15 yard range which makes a linebackers have to respect it the running game is looking like 2014 again and for the first time in a few years I have no idea what the play call is coming. Thanks to Daks unique abilities

Defensively we're changing things up instead of sticking to the old cover 2 sky's the limit guys

Most people on the board aren't going to like the answer but....coaching and executive decisions. Drafting RB, picking up a "closing" RB, both who love dirty yards.

A little bit of magic by Dak, but the coaches are in Dak's ear and it shows in the best way possible.

Coaching through adversity. (Injuries and lack of flash playmakers/pass rush.)

Yeah, this is it to me.

Add in the QB is getting TDs and not turning the ball over.

Its not complicated. Posters are using this word "poise"...thats a new word for , finally after so many chaotic years, having a QB that can actually read a defense and make a good quick decision. Prescott finds the open player and this has expanded the offense from just Jason and Bryant and the results have really paid off.

Your point stated TD's and not Ints

Romo's numbers in 2014 stand for themselves too!
Dude, if Romo went 5 games with one turnover, I'd consider that 'not turning the ball over' and be happy with the QB play.

Dak is playing smart and that has nothing to do with Romo. Not turning the ball over is key Garrett's formula and Dak is doing it well. That is absolutely irrefutable

Why are we winning this year with the loss of so many stud players? Is it Elliott? Yes. Partly at least!

Is it the lack of offensive turnovers this year? Yes. At least partly.

Is it a reinvigorated Mo, who is playing like the player we thought he could be when we drafted him? Check. No doubt.

Is it the play of a rookie QB that is playing better than any rookie in the history of the NFL? Well, Yeah!

Is it the best offensive line in football with the best offfensive like depth in football? No doubt!

It so because the receivers are stepping up at key times, and displaying a next man up mentality? Yep.

Is it improved offensive play calling? Yes. After a too conservative game 1, the play calling has gotten much better over the past 4 games.

A lot to like so far about this team. You have to give some credit to Jerry Jones and Red Ball for putting together a talented team.
The reason we are winning is for the first time in the Romo Era..

the team is playing as a team.

No longer is the team being asked to Live or Die with Romo and Dez..

The entire teams contributing for 60 minutes.

We are not waiting around for Romo to win in the 4th qt.

We are no longer waiting for Dez to make a Catch or drop a pass in order to be our identity.

We have a modernity and it's spread across the players.

Refreshing.

This is even better than when Troy, Michael and Memory were playing.

It's fun to watch this team now.

Do you think Romo is not a hard worker, not serious or wants to show off more than win?...... no but he has been top dog so long,
he isnt what he could be, or could have been.
complacent is what he has become, no practice just show up and play.
I am not knocking tony, he is still good, just he hasnt had the intensity he should have, because he rose so fast, and was
really spoiled to some extent by our gm.

you make some good points like on top.
Did Dak lay hands on Mo and heal him in the offseason?....... yes it happened this summer !:flagwave:
you want to think the entire team is better because of Dak, honestly?....... yes.
he is even making the coaches look good.
