Why are you a Cowboys fan?

I didn't really get into Football until I was like 7. The first real football game I sat down and watched in it's entirety was the first Dallas/Bills Superbowl...

Being a stupid 7 year old I liked the team that was blowing the other one out. The game was amazing, I cheered for the Cowboys, and I have never looked back since.

My uncle was drafted by the Cincinnati Bongles in 1977 when I was 6 years old :( and thankfully he was traded to the boys :). I could have easily been a Bongles' fan but fate fell in my favor. He use to send me all kinds of gear from cleats, lamp shades, to pencils. I can still remember my first Cowboy's jacket, very rare in Louisiana; I have been a boys fan ever since.

Even as a kid you would have known better than to put on that nasty orange/striped gear if he had stayed with Bengals. I had faith in you then.... pre-webs :laugh2:

Thanks for saying so. He's the best man I've ever known. He's my best friend to this day. He actually cried when I told him one of his Christmas presents was tickets to see the HoF enshrinement in 2010(counting on Emmitt to get in on the 1st ballot!) :D

Not out on a limb there! ;)

I grew up in L.A. and all my family were Rams fans. The first time I remember seeing the Dallas Cowboys was in 1962 on TV. I loved their white uniforms with the star on the shoulder.

The Boys uniforms have gained them a lot of fans over the years. Easily the best looking in the league!;)

I went to my first game on October 30, 1960 at the Cotton Bowl, against the defending NFL champion Baltimore Colts. We lost 45-7.

In 1961, my older brother started taking me to every home game. That's when I say I became a fan. We went to every home game from 1961 through 1964 and two games in 1965 before we move away.

Those teams weren't very good but I fell in love with them.

You've had the pleasure of seeing it all. The best of the best....and the worst of the worst. I've followed them since I can remember. Over forty years now! They've given me waaayyy more pleaseure than grief during this time.

Thank goodness he was only there long enough for a cup of coffee, lol.

Saw a picture of Eddie LeBaron in a local NJ newspaper when they played the Giants. Stars on the helmet, stars on the uni. Fell instantly in love.

Plus, it annoyed my entire family of Giant fans, save Mom.

i was born to love the cowboys.

my dad was a fan so i was raised to love them. my whole family are die hards. my brother was born in 71 super bowl VI
i was born in 78 super bowl XII

my nephew was born in 96 super bowl XXX

:starspin:starspin

when we score i celebrate without thinking. its just a natural reaction.

I remember my first Cowboys game on tv it was 1971 Superbowl V vs. the Baltimore Colts. Growing up in Hooks Texas you were either a Cowboys or Oilers fan usually but my stepfather for some unknown to me reason was a huge Colts fan and loved Johnny Unitas. So on this day as a little kid I knew it was different as so much family were together watching this one game. I of course decided I liked the other team that my stepfather hated and afterall the Cowboys were winning at the half...I've never looked back, never changed teams like my brother (freakin Jets fan) but that's my story.

Because smart people love the Cowboys.

Stupid people root for the other teams.

This is about the twentieth time I have answered a thread like this. Just thought I would come up with a different answer this time.

:laugh1:

My dad was always a big fan. I remember watching the games with him when I was little, not really understanding what I was seeing much. The first game I actually remember getting it a little was Superbowl V. I remember being really upset that the Cowboys lost, even though prior to that day I had never really been affected by the results of a game. After that, I started paying strict attention to the Cowboys, especially when I found out that the world's fastest human played for them! That was beyond awesome to me!! Bob Hayes might as well have been Superman in my eyes. I expected him to score every time he touched the ball. I've been one crazy obsessed fan ever since. I just turned 47, and can't remember ever really caring about any other sports team of any kind my whole life. :starspin

Super Bowl XII. The first football game I ever watched. Staubach, Dorsett, classy Tom Landry in his fedora and suit, the o-line shift b4 getting set, the dominating defense, the HB pass from Newhouse to Richards, the silver helmets and blue star...just all the glitz and swagger that surrounded Dallas lured me in like a moth to the flame!!

Never had a chance. My parents were rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth Cowboys fans since the Staubach days. My fondest childhood memories are of my parents screaming at the top of their lungs, and the sounds of the crowd on TV, the announcers, etc are still like a lullaby to me. Very nostalgic.

I couldn't love them more than I do, and I can't imagine loving anybody else.

I have no idea why I'm a Cowboy fan. I guess I just love winners.

;)

Born and Raised...
I was born in Dallas. My dad went to the University Of Texas. I remember watching Don Meredith, Bob Hayes, Lilly, Staubach, Randy White & Dorsett...The Triplets... everyone in between...and since.
When I met my Wife, I told her that she probably wouldn't like me very much between late August, to hopefully early February because of my 'Boys.
I simply love my 'Boys....

As a young boy growing up on the High Plains, I was rabidly pro-Texan. Loved the state and everything associated with it. On January 1, 1967, I walked in to our living room where my dad was watching a game he had bet on. It was the first Cowboys-Packers NFL championship game (the one before the Ice Bowl). I heard the announcer mention that some team called the "Dallas Cowboys" were playing, so I sat and watched the rest of the game, rooting for this team from Texas. Don Meredith threw the INT to lose the game at the end, my dad lost the money that he bet on the Boys, but I've been a die-hard fan from that moment on.
