...I live in South Texas...of course at one time in the past there were 2 teams in Dallas... the Cowboys won out over the Dallas Texans...Thus the Texans moved and became the Kansas City Chiefs....Then there was the Houston Oilers...I love NFL football, and to me...there just was no comparing Houston with the Dallas Cowboys... ...eventually even the Oilers left, and I believe became the Tennessee Titans...So unless San Antonio gets a team,(and I have heard "Scuttlebutt") there are two teams in Texas...Cowboys and the Houston Texans!...The Texans have made a little more headway over the last few seasons...but no matter!.. The Cowboys always have, and always will be not only "America's team"...but my team!...:starspin:

Watched the Ice Bowl with my Dad and got hooked on Meredith, Perkins, Walt, Lilly, etc.

Then followed Alworth, Hill, Staubach, Thomas, Aikman, 33, 22, 88, 88, Barber, Romo, and lots more.

Now Dak, Zeke, 88, o-line, and more to come...

I'm still hooked!

About age 5-6..first concrete memory was around "the catch"..80/81 Growing up in Silver Spring, MD .. Dad was a skins season ticket holder but the "over the hill gang" vibe, Riggins etc. never appealed to me. I guess the fact that the Cowboys were a relevant divisional rival with national exposure allowed me to catch their vibe. Tony Dorsett instantly became my favorite player. Silver and Blue were more my vibe.. numbers on the hip.. O-Line Shift, Shotgun, The Man in the suit with the Hat, NFL Films, TD "untouched" highlight reels , Tony "Thrill" Hill, Drew Pearson, Robert Newhouse, Springs, Thurman, Walls, Danny White, Manster, Too Tall, Downs, .. those were just my guys.. favorite team and never looked back..

Where I am, the fan base is basically split between the Giants and Patriots, two teams that never appealed to me. I will admit, neither the Giants or Pats were any good when I started watching football. The Cowboys, the other team that's always on up here, were.

I learned the game watching the Cowboys. The stars on the team- Troy, Emmitt, Moose, Irvin, Novacek, the o-line, the speedy defense- I was just fascinated. My friends were a mix of fans of other teams, so I learned early on how to handle the grief, too!

The Cowboys' dynasty of the 1990's mirrored my high school years, still the most enjoyable period of my life. Dallas won Super Bowls my freshman, sophomore, and senior years. Good times, good times.....

Let's try an explanation of why you place a claim on being a Dallas Cowboys fan...(some might have to admit that they just like insulting other fans and complaining)
There are three ways in the world to be part of something awesome. You could be a:
Texan
American
Cowboys Fan

Not everybody can be 1 or 2 but in Texas we offer others a little taste of greatness by allowing them to be Cowboys fans.

Grew up on a military base in California (Moffett Field). A new family had moved into the base housing after being transferred from Texas. They had a daughter that became friends with my older sister (at the time, 11-12). I fell hard for her in a way only an 8-year old could. Naturally, I took to liking anything she did and that included the Cowboys.

The rest is history.
