My late father and older brother lived and died with the Cowboys! Saw my bro actually cry after a loss. I knew then how important the Dallas Cowboys were to the family. I remember The Catch... how gut wrenching it was. I remember that Monday night game in Minneapolis and watching TD take a handoff for 99 yards to the house! All those highs. All the lows.

I'm a Cowboys fan for life!

When I was a youngster in the late 80's and early 90's I played football (through high school) and my middle school gym/football coach was a security guard for the Cowboys.

Every now and then a player would show up at practice and give us a little speech. I'll never forget staying after practice to run voluntary sprints with a few teammates and out of the blue Michael Irvin showed up. He told us how much he liked seeing us working hard after practice and threw the ball around with us for a little bit. That's when I "really" became a fan. Can't say I approved of some of his later actions in life but he's made a great turnaround.

Around that same time I went to football camps in the dfw area and met several players. I'll always remember how amazed I was at Nate Newtons size! I've been looking all over for my picture with him but it may be gone forever :(

Met my wife in college, she used to work at the Cowboys summer training camp when they had it at St Edwards so that started off a match made in heaven.

Even bought a truck at Troy Aikman's to support him (even though he doesn't need my support) and was lucky enough to bump into him. Very brief interaction but seemed like a real nice guy.

When I came to Canada from England in 94, I needed a new north american sport to watch and new teams to support. Back then the triplets were in full force. I watched the NFC Championship game vs the Niners and decided to support the Cowboys. They lost, but I just loved the team, and Madden calling their games. Next year they went on to beat the Steelers for their third SB of the 90s, so I'm happy I atleast got to see one victory, even if I was 10 at the time. I hope, more than anything else when it comes to sports, that I'll be able to see this team win it's sixth. I've put so much of myself into this team over the years (watch 7 games on the road, a Cowboys tattoo, following non-stop even during the off season, etc), I want it to be worth it!

I was born and raised in South Irving (still live here). I was about 8 miles from Texas Stadium and currently about 10 miles from the Deathstar. I've been a Cowboys fan as long as i can remember. That's 36 years now. I've never rooted for any NON-Dallas teams. It's all about the Cowboys-Rangers-Mavs-Sidekicks (#tatu) - Stars. I'm not into college sports at all. I went to UNT. **** that school.

Most of us are drawn to those things that make us happy. The Cowboys presence and their games simply add something to my life that I wouldn't be able to have otherwise . . . pretty simple when you think about it.

Even when they're performing poorly, like they did the last few years of the Landry regime, the Campo years and during the 20 year playoff drought, they were still a desperate passion for me, a bit like an addition that I just couldn't shake. Still, it was such delightful misery!

That's when you know, beyond a doubt, that you've really got it bad. Even in absolutely the worst of times, my hunger for Da Boys was totally unshaken, God help me . . . (thank heaven, he has now -- and it's all good.) ;)

My first memories are of my family and extended family gathering together every Sunday for church in Hamlin, Texas and then the weekly Dallas Cowboys game and feast at my grandparents house. It's just what we did and I grew to love, "America's Team". Over 50 years later, we still get together on Sunday after church to enjoy family, Cowboys football and home cooking... and some poker.

5 or 6 years old, watch some of the games on TV with my father. My father was a High School/College referee most of my life - until I was playing in High School. He would watch any game as an interested referee. I was attracted to the white jerseys (black and white tv - dark jerseys where harder to see) and the star on the helmet when I was first watching. The coaches and players kept me coming back. Meredith / Hayes / Jordan / Lilly / Howley / Pugh / Green / Perkins - these are my first name memories. It took me a few years to get to know the names and players. The games and failures in those early teams cemented me to true fan - losing to Cleveland / Green Bay / Minnesota - those early failures before and in the beginning of the SuperBowl era (Ice Bowl). The Dallas Cowboy Weekly - gave me reading material as a young student that didn't love to read. Cowboys have just been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Lots of life lessons learned being a cowboys fan - victories, failures, pride, being humbled by team problems, sticking to a team/family - really more than I can remember to communicate in writing. I can't really remember much before my cowboy memories?????????

Let's try an explanation of why you place a claim on being a Dallas Cowboys fan...(some might have to admit that they just like insulting other fans and complaining)

grew up in Va near the applachians, starting watching football around 1969. Dad my real hero was in the Navy, Roger my other hero and the fact that to us Washington DC with all its dirty politics was sin city. Like I say once you have blue blood you bleed blue until the day you die. It a little wierd, I ended having a good career working in Washington. Still hate the skins and forever a Cowboys fan.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I became a Cowboys fan. I always have been ever since I can remember. In the mid 70's I was 3 or 4 years old and had a Cowboys night stand lamp and garbage can in my bedroom. I think my aunt and uncle (who were also my godparents and grandparent figures because I never knew my grandparents) bought them for me. I have always loved the star, the colors, and the team.
