Why aren't we moving on Rolando and Bruce?

I love that Ro brings something we've lacked for a while, but I want to try to find it in someone more stable than Ro. That's tricky.

I agree. I don't see any reason I wouldn't take Carter back. I'm not a cap guy but I can't see him costing that much. Maybe I'm wrong.

And compared to Lee, well, at least Carter suits up to play.
I really just don't understand the steps it takes for people to go from "arson" to "McClain had a hand in the arson." It's ridiculous. There are clearly more obvious reasons for an intentional fire than the owner burning down a place with his important belongings in it. Additionally, he's not facing a suspension. He's facing a 4 game suspension IF he fails another test. I am all for bring McClain back at a reasonable price...and the price will be reasonable.

Carter leaving,I agree with. It's not at all about hating Carter, it's about the fact that his play, his age and his athleticism look more attractive to a team that doesn't have him yet. Some other team (probably a 3-4 team) will offer him a deal too rich for Dallas to sensibly match.

Odd how other teams always seem to half lots of monies to shower on ex-Cowboys. Then again, other teams (mostly) don't give the sun and the moon to their QB in exchange for two career playoff wins.
I now go into seclusion before the bricks start falling around me . . . . Ms. Busty, wait for me, I will return . . .

I apoligize if its been discussed already, but for the life of me i can't figure out why we aren't moving on these two. Any ideas?

I love Hitchens and Lee, but Lee is injury prone and McClain was huge for us last year. Same with Carter. I'd want these two back on my team without question.

It was pointed out earlier; Other than teams making cuts, none of the 32 teams are really making moves on anyone right now.
I know we keep getting threads about why we haven't signed certain players, but we are no different than any other team right now.

What is the confusion?

I'm not confused. I'd like Ro and Carter to be here. I like both players. Seemed to me Carter started playing like some thought he could. He can play all three positions. I'd like to see him on the edge as he is our best pass rusher as a LB.

I think he's gone. Big year, still probably the best pure athlete at the LB position in the league. Giants loved him in that 2011 draft. Someone is going to pay him.

Carter may be the most inconsistent linebacker in Cowboys history.
He has had moments that are All Pro worthy and then a couple games later he gets himself benched.

But the reality is these guys get to free agency and want to make money.
Very few are are concerned about much of anything else.

Carter seems somewhat unlikely to come back because Rod never seemed to coddle him or favor him.
And Carter's own mom indicated he had confidence issues....

I would welcome him back due to his insane upside potential but he seems the guy most likely to move on.

Can't argue too much. IDK what to think of him.

i think we'll all think of him as rich pretty soon which is why he is imho a longshot to return.

mcclain gets in his own way and costs himself all that money so seems likely to return because he's great sean lee insurance come week 5 or whenever he is eligible.

i'd love to get carter back but it just feels unlikely.

I don't have a good read on this. You may be right.

There have been reports that Dallas is close to a deal with Durant, which could mean the Cowboys are also negotiating with the other linebackers and Durant is closer to agreeing to what's being offered or the Cowboys are considering going with a LB corps of WLB Durant, MLB Lee, SLB Hitchens instead of investing more into the LB position.

Well you may as well get over it because Marinelli and Jason loves the guy. You see, all they care about is the man (Marinelli), his football IQ (Marinelli/Garrett), his well being (Garrett). I expect DefRo back in full strength with a full off season and training camp under his belt. You can write it down and put it in a 3 inch headline: Rolando McClain Resigns with the Cowboys.

I don't get the bruce Carter hate. He led the team in INT and had more then Sherman. He looked very comfortable this season and made huge plays for us. Stayed healthy all year unlike Durant, Lee, Hitchens and Ro.

Will be huge lost and another hole to fill if we lose him

It was a contract year for him. He was inconsistent at best.

Right but 1 more failed drug test and it's a 4 game suspension.

Also the biggest thing we need to look at is the concussions. That stuff doesn't go away especially the way he plays and hits.

I woukd love to have him back but it's got to be at the right price.

Ro lives his life, like he plays football. Wild. The first half of the year, he was all-over-the-place...

Full Out, all the way, no in between. no boundaries.

I want that guy on my team. :)

Watch some tape of him....seriously

He is such and up and down player. Don't let the splash INTs fool you. He will take downs off. Not rally to the football....full speed. IMO he just goes through the motions whenever he is nicked up.

It would hurt if he left....but I don't think he wants to be here....

and I'll be shocked if we gave him a long term deal and he accepts:omg:

Sounds like a bunch of players on this team. Not saying he is all pro but give me him over lee, Durant and Ro anyday of the week. Those guys can't stay healthy

Sadly, I believe Rivers' signing and what Broaddus had to say about McClain (that he mentally checked out at times this year and the Cowboys were concerned about his injuries forcing him in and out of the lineup) means that BOTH McClain and Carter are gone. I believe LBs will be:

MLB Lee
WLB Hitchens
SLB Durant
1st backup Rivers
