And of course, there's no more ELITE level of competition than Canadian football... I mean, just about EVERYBODY up there is a serious NFL prospect...

Being a two-time Grey Cup champion is about as impressive to the NFL as being a two time Division II champion...

Ricky Ray tried out for the 9ers and failed to make the team, he also was considered by the Jets when Pennington was coming off the injury but went with Carter instead. Ricky Ray he is far from a sure thing as far as NFL talent goes. Dallas knows what Johnson can do and Johnson has been somewhat successful in the NFL. Dallas got the man they wanted.

The point is Dallas coaching staff will be working with Romo they don't have the time to groom Ricky Ray as a backup who despite what he has done in the CFL and not been able to stick in the NFL. Your backup is a guy who comes in at a moments notice and does not get near the time the starter does during the week leading up to game day.
