Why can't we just keep Rico for red zone purposes?

I get where you're coming from, but to me, the question is do you want someone that has proven they can do the job and earned it, or someone that hasn't proven they can do the job, but also hasn't proven they can't? By all accounts coming out of TC, Rico is in that later group.
No TE on the roster has proven anything. That's the point I'm trying to make

I mean why not? We've kept people on active roster who never should be and don't contribute.

He'd be replacing what Dez did, and opening up things for Zeke.

I'm not sure I like going into the redzone and creating plays and executing like Brady.

Stop the fade to Rico, or stop Zeke

Bro don't worry about a thing. Rico will be on the field week1 no matter what the fans say.

Its funny how fans all of a sudden have no memory of how the cowboys still do certain things!

Rico will be kept, will make the team, and will play, simple as that.

Don't feed into the overexaggeration of the fans. Its not what we want, its what the FO wants.

That would mean JJ is his backing. Someone is backing him to stash him and let him learn how to play football.

Im not hunting anything, post it here.

Here ya go....

He looked slow, very poor in changing directions at the top, and then didn't snap it off which allowed the DB to undercut. He's really limited to curls where he can use his body to box out like he's done on the hardwood, and go routes down the seam. Other than that, he doesn't look to have the complete route skills needed.

That's a fact and none of the WR's have proven anything yet without a #1 on the field to draw the top CB, if a team plays that way.

It's wide open at both positions and while we might not like a true #1 at either position, having a bunch of #2's for depth isn't bad.

They got Austin and plan on getting Elliott more in the pass game and without a true must play TE, they have some options with lineups. What they must have are good blocking TE's. That is required.

some people have incredibly bad taste
it would look great in black or silver or something though

this looks better in black :)

* sorry for the thread jack *

Because he can't block.

If he can't block, he's a slow, plodding WR who can't run routes.

If he can block, he's a huge, agile blocking TE with soft hands and long arms. Valuable, and not just in the red zone.

It's always been about the blocking for Rico. Too bad he can't seem to figure that out.

We've turned LBs into FBs in a single offseason. On his third year, Rico still can't block. Sad.

Heard Rico got first team reps today. I'm surprised no one through a parade lol

If that were true Gronkowski and Kelce would score every time their team was in the RZ. There is something a D can do because they do it every week. If he was as good as you think he could be, and I am not in on that, he would end up being a decoy. He's not the first tall receiver to play the game. Harold Carmichael was a better receiver than he will ever be at 6'8" and they struggled to get the ball to him a lot of the time.

He has to earn a spot on the roster as a TE and one that can be used as a blocker, not some specialty player. You are talking about a player that would probably have the fewest plays of any player and you want a roster spot for that? This isn't that good a team to waste a spot like that.

Im not asking him to be my no 1 TE you know that word that coaches like to use called "Role" Hed have a role on my squad his role will be to catch the ball when thrown your way simple why. because theres nothing that 6 foot safety can do to defend that one on one

If my offense is what its suppose to be is all im saying..how often we gonna be in goaline think of it like that because thats how i do... I as an offense plan on being there alot and not settling for 3 points.

in the box got to honor Zeke and Dak on goaline so thats 9 already you got 1 on 1 on every where else so insert Player where you want.. Rico 6' 7" can Box out High point and catches with his hands not his body.... Mismatch all day one on one.. so what his blocking is suspect right now you still want to take that chance and leave him open on goaline?

With dak and zeke back there too, shiddd cmon.. i been seeing it already let him go to New Orleans and watch him get 20 td's just playing a roll

Bill B in NE uses players for rolls they may play 6 plays the whole game but those 6 plays most like by a n name effected the game in there favor, which is what im about which is winning, when the plan aint working then what coach?

Hell they still got FS Showers on the team developing how many years now and at least Rico got talent to actually have an effect on a game
