Why did Philly not kick a field goal in 4th quarter?

Dude had hit TWO 55 yards, but they didn't trust him to hit a 53 harder and put the game away?? Garrett coached to win - their coach coached not to lose!

Those are issues you get with a rookie coach. He'll learn from it.

....or maybe he's been watching other NFL games this week where every kicker in the league missed field goals in the 4th.

You coach not to lose, you will usually end up losing. Ask Garrett about this. He's did it many times. Main one I remember was in 2012 against the Ravens. Had timeouts and 45 sec left and we only ran one play before trying an extremely long FG that we missed.

If he misses, oh well. You are still up 7. The worst case you are now tied, have the ball and just need a FG to win. If there was very little time left, then I agree. But not at that point.

Garrett coached to win last night. Especially going for it on 4th and 1. Pederson most likely kicks a FG there.

Kicking a long distance before halftime is a bit different than at that stage of the game. Dak had been off most of the night and Philly defense was playing good. Peterson put the game in the hands of his defense. The Big play was that of Lee whose tackle for a loss made a mid range FG into a long range FG.

We came very close to blocking their last two kicks.

It came down to his defense was making plays and we wasn't moving the ball very good. If he misses the field goal Dallas has great field position not only that eagles special teams have played great and maybe we fumble or start at our 1. Had we not went down the field and gave it back to Philly most likely game over

Their defense had controlled the 2nd half . That was a field position decision. A missed field goal shortens the field there. That wasn't an issue before the half.

similar feel to the playoff game against the lions. We just couldn't get going then hit a few plays, converted on fourth down and they punted in similar spots.

Why they didn't make us punt at the end of regulation I will never understand but am so happy they did it.

That kicker made two kicks before the half that would have been good from 65 yards. Still, probably the right decision to pin a struggling offense deep. It just didn't work out. Good for us.

That is a great comparison - well done. It did have a similar feel in terms of how the game was trending.

I would like to see the percentages, because I highly doubt the difference between giving up the ball at the 10/20 vs. the 40 justifies not trying a 53-yard FG indoors to essentially Ice the game.

I think it was absolutely the wrong decision to punt.

Not using his timeouts at end of game was utterly stupid. You have the Cowboys pinned in their end, and you have the best special teams in the NFL and you don't force a punt. Pop warner coaching with Pederson.
