How's it expensive? Money doesn't come out of his pocket during the appeals process. He only had money to gain by appealing and getting his game checks.
Somebody is paying the lawyers, guarantee they are involved in the appeals process.

Someone gave a good explanation on the official forum: By accepting the suspension now instead of fighting it and possibly losing, he's serving it now. If he fought it and lost, he'd be serving it in the post-season and into next year, preventing him from participating in training camp.

Likely was told that there is no excuse for missing a test and best case scenario was to play later during a possible playoff run versus playing now when he needs time to get back in shape. He is able to work out with the team on a drug suspension.

Whether they made the post season or not, it would still be a very likely possibility that he wouldn't be able to participate in TC because he was still serving the suspension. :)
Honestly, he doesn't exist to me anymore, we have to assume that he won't play another snap for us.

To me the interesting part is that the damn NFL can't actually run its appeals quickly, other then Suh when he cheap shotted Rodgers. It makes no sense that these can't be done quickly.

I'm all sorts of confused. I thought he had won his appeal and it was already reduced to 4 games??
He didn't win his appeal. It was bad info that was put out and retracted.
What happened was Randy Gregory's first 4 game suspension was noted as the official roster was finalized. Media outlets say this and misinterpreted that as being he would only serve a 4 game suspension, when in fact the 2nd suspension (10 games) wasnt notes on the roster because it was still under appeal.

Media ran with that as " Gregory wins appeal" when in fact no determination whatsoever was ever made regarding its status

I think it's all a part of the NFLPA dues. I think his appeal is filed and paid by the NFLPA. Wouldn't make sense for the team to have to pay for the lawyer that is working against their cause.

NFLPA defending players on substance abuse violations sends out a real bad message.

Swear to God, if watching this fiasco unfold this season with Gregory, McClain & Lawrence doesn't teach this front office to stay the hell away from players known to have drug issues, nothing will.
