Randy knows something we do not, like maybe he cannot make it through a season without weed.

Swear to God, if watching this fiasco unfold this season with Gregory, McClain & Lawrence doesn't teach this front office to stay the hell away from players known to have drug issues, nothing will.

We still won't learn. :(

But I agree with you. I'm thoroughly disappointed in Randy Gregory. I bought his line about rehabilitating, but by doing so, I went against what I know to be true in these situations based on experience and observation. It is EXTREMELY difficult for people entrenched in a behavior to change unless something catastrophic occurs in that person's life to change him/her.

Simply being drafted doesn't cut it.

NFLPA defending players on substance abuse violations sends out a real bad message.

How so? That's a huge part of their duty: to make sure the players (ya know, who they WORK FOR), get a fair shake. That is what unions do.

And you think that I didn't understand you thought you were being funny? It's still defeatism.
You're right, if the last 20 years has taught us anything, it's that we have absolutely no reason to doubt this teams ability to succeed. Thank you for showing me the light.

I can't even imagine what it must feel like to miss out on that much money due to substance abuse.

Success is a relative term. We have 2 quality QBs and in this league that gives us a shot to make the playoffs.

You are carrying on like we already lost a spot in the playoffs and when called on it dissemble into this nonsense as if I am calling a Super Bowl shot. Not everyone loathes their own team.

I think Gregory and his lawyer realized, upon due research and consideration, that his chances of a successful appeal were very unlikely. It's also entirely possible that he simply requires more time to get his life in order and to successfully ensure his rehabilitation. He has taken a long time arriving at the point where he is presently. It probably takes a long time to overcome what has already cursed him for far too long.

To me the interesting part is that the damn NFL can't actually run its appeals quickly, other then Suh when he cheap shotted Rodgers. It makes no sense that these can't be done quickly.
Ouch... See just when I forgot all about that.
Great now I am mad.

The thing I don't understand is why did he leave rehab if he intended to do this? If you're not attempting to come back this season why not stay in rehab in get right. Choose one or the other.

Rehab isn't forever. Also, NFLPA advised him to drop because they felt it was not winable.

Best thing for him is to be with the team as he has been the last week. Can't practice but attends meetings, works out. It is a lost year but this is better than him sitting at home
