I just don't understand this FO and their approach to the DT position. They have allowed their chief rival to lap them over and over again at this key position going back to the 2012 draft (picking Claiborne over Cox).

More recently, Eagles got Javon Hargrave as a FA prior to the 2020 season for a reasonable three-years $39 million. I remember at the time wondering why we weren't showing any interest in him when our DTs at the time were Tyrone Crawford, Antwaun Woods, Christian Covington, and Trystena Hill? Hargrave has 10 sacks this season. 23 sacks for the Eagles in three seasons.

Then, this year the Eagles aggressively addressed their poor run defense by adding Suh and Joseph to their already talented dline. They have been rewarded for their aggressive approach. The Eagles have the 4th best run defense in the NFL since the addition of those two players.

This is very frustrating.
Well, you know, we did add Poe, McCoy, Haha, Canady, and Worley in that offseason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hargrave ended up being a great signing for them. Joseph and Suh are older rentals that I wouldn't lose sleep over.

Just imagine if the Giants let Saquon Barkley walk out as a UFA ..

. or even if Stephen lets our Pollard walk out as an UFA, and the Eagles being there to pounce on either one of them ... Yiikes !!

You would think after being with Parcells he would have learned you build a defense from the middle out, but it is obvious he doesn't get it when you look at our DTs and MLB.

It is catching up to them as teams keep pounding and wearing our pass rushers out and injuries mount in the secondary.

In the words of my best friend, who works for the Cowboys and has personally driven Stephen around, "dude, this team is just run by drunk rednecks that truly have NO CLUE what they're doing when it comes to football, and don't care about anything other than making money."

Also, in the Johnny Manziel draft (when we got Zach Martin instead) Jerry already had hundreds of Manziel jerseys made, and ready to sell.

because our idiot FO believes the same crazy stuff that our fans believe, that upgrading DT and stopping the run are a priority if we want a consistently great defense

IMO Dallas FO just doesn't care too much about the DT spot really since Glover in free agency.
We got big Ferg due to Parcells wanting to run the 3-4 and then Ratliff developed into an undersized stud NT.
After that it's been the Rod M show of try hard DTs without talent and Nolan I guess had the right idea but the plan brought in two over the hill DTs.

I don't know if it's because they think the guys they got can develop into competent players or they just think the DE's are the show and go and they just need warm bodies at DT.
The trade for Hankins was a good move, but like you posted there were other DT's in FA that could of been signed to help shore up the DT spot. 2 of the guys we entered the year with have been cut.

Probably due to ego, but Star Lotulelei is available that can make impact on the run defense right away.

They talk about deep playoff runs bug fail to address the run the defense that kicked this team out of the post-season multiple times.

I feel its as simple as we don't value the position the same way franchises with a good defense do. We will spend draft picks on the position but rarely is it a high pick and once free agency rolls around, we basically refuse to spend big anywhere.
