Why did we draft 4 guys who were either injured last year or have injury problems?

The guys on the Cowboys.com radio the other day said Stanley's bench was up to 300lbs, so he's coming along.

what football player has played for a lengthy amount of time and never got injured? Injuries happen. Everyone gets knicked up.

Hatcher doesn't have injury problems or an injury. He has a narrow spinal column. That *could* increase his chances of having a spinal injury if his head and neck hit the turf like Irvin's did in Philly.

I don't know what Fasano's back issues are, but Stanley and Carpenter's injuries were not that big of a deal and they should be 100% come training camp.

Then again, the Dallas medical staff hasn't been exactly batting 1.000 lately.

Lendale - Fat, lazy, hamstring

Not just a hamstring, but a torn hamstring. There's a pretty good chance that thing won't be right come training camp and he'll have to take it easy until the season starts. And even by then, it might blow up again. See Urlacher in '04.

Yes, because it's Bills way. Al Johnson,Kevin Burnette,Jacob Rogers and now Fasano. And all in the second round too. That's why I question his drafting decisions. Pittsburgh and New England wouldn't have touched any of those guys.

Ever heard of a Defensive End named Chris Canty?

But he was a fourth rounder, not a second rounder. I think we feel that day one picks shouldn't have serious injury questions as those are the primary building blocks for starters.

Carpenter:
2005: Suffered a right fibula fracture when his leg twisted under him on the first defensive play vs. Michigan (11/19). The injury was further compounds when UM offensive tackle Jake Long fell on Carpenter's leg.

Fasano:
2003: Sat out the Navy game (11/08) with back spasms.
2004: Did not play vs. Stanford (10/09) due to a shoulder sprain.
2005: Played most of the second half of the year with his left thumb heavily taped because of a ligament strain (10/08)...Also suffered a slight shoulder contusion vs. Southern California (10/15).

Stanley:
2002: Limited over the second half of the season with turf toe.
2005: Underwent surgery Dec. 15 to repair a torn left pectoral muscle, missing the Gator Bowl vs. Virginia Tech.
2006: Did not participate in 225-pound bench press at the Combine following surgery for torn left pectoral.

Hatcher:
2004: Missed the Bethune-Cookman, Texas Southern and Alabama State games, but the school did not provide an injury report.

Fasano seems like the only real risk here...

Sounds like another Jacob Rogers. Could be another second round pick thrown away?

Exactly, so unless he is running around in pattern, I doubt that will be an issue for him. Of course something freaky might happen for him to hit his head so hard on turf the same way.

Until then, this might not be a big issue normally for DE, especially in 3-4.

Like Quincy Carter also.

Is it really true that Fasano has a plate and screws in his back? If the answer is no, I feel much better about the pick.
I thought I read or heard that somewhere here.

Ellis had screws in his leg after he broke it. He's just fine now.

On that note, I have never, ever heard of having screws put into someone's back. Legs and arms all the time, but never a back.

Is that even a real medical procedure?

I could see Fasano being a risk if year after year he had the SAME injury. Fasanos injuries were different each time and he came back from each one. That shows me toughness and determination. He's no Jacob Rogers.:rake:

Because this is football and players get injured.
This aint ballroom dancing or baseball its a contact sport 99.9% of players have and will continue to play through injuries whether you know about them or not.

Yes, it's called spinal fusion and is very common for back/neck injuries. If he's 2 years out and playing football - he will be OK.

Back spasms, sprained shoulder and strained thumb ligament?

Do you even have any clue of the type of injuries Rogers had?

Good to know, it does sound real bad on the surface though. Hopefully it is a non-issue for him now.

Anyway to get more info on this?
