Why didn't the Cowboys fight back like the 49ers did?

We won against the Lions for this reason too. They had the momentum but instead of kicking the field goal against us they kept going for it.
Yep. Dallas escaped overtime and a possible loss in overtime because of Campbell's stubbornness. On the other hand, San Francisco pounced on Campbell's stubbornness early like, well, a lion. lol.

Especially the defense. They actually got a stop only to see Dak give it right back. Defense was demoralized instantly.
Huh?? The defense set the tone to start the game. And they had the same deer in headlights look all game. We score got it to 27-10, What did the defense do?? Make a stop??? Nope, gave up a quick TD, game over.

Why do they say we need to play with a lead in the score?
Everyone knows why.................

The defense got a stop on the packers second possession when the score was only 7-0 in the second quarter. The offense couldn’t sustain a drive and the momentum and gave it right back to the packers in a short field. I’m not arguing the defense wasn’t bad in the game. I’m saying the offense didn’t do anything to keep them off the field as well

Both the Cowboys and 49ers were playing at home. Both teams were down by multiple scores.

One roared back behind timely defensive stops and a few momentum changing plays. The other went out with a whimper.

What is the source of the contrast? Is it talent? Is it intestinal fortitude?

I'll say this, Shanahan looked like you could fry an egg on his forehead at the end of the 1st half. He was visibly perturbed. I wish I could hear his halftime speech because his players, his leaders like Deebo, came out with a chip on their shoulder in the 3rd quarter. Top, down they have something that is a completely foreign concept in Dallas - football character.

Cowboys need to spend all offseason dissecting what is preventing them from fighting back when they are put in a corner like the 49ers did last night.
Because the Cowboys are soft and mentally weak and they don't have near the QB skill and grit that the 49ers have.

I think the Lions blew it. They held SF to FG on that first drive of the second half. But they turned the ball over and had a ton a drops. It was as if the moment was too big for the Lions. And I get that Campbell is a gambler and it’s paid off, but you kick the FG to tie the game.

Yea, the offense needs to score on every possession. How many other stops did the defense get?? 27-10 was still do-able, and what did the defense do??? Dak was not great, but I put most of this game on Quinn and the defense. They sucked the whole game.

Did I not say the defense sucked?. I am specifically talking about this sequence and climate of the game. Dak was just as bad in the first half as Quinn and the defense.

Outside of LB it's more about mental makeup than talent. We're just a soft, front running team. QB always has the deer in the headlights look when faced with adversity in a big game, and if the defense isn't playing with a lead they fold. You'll notice Brandon Aiyuk and DeeBo were not pouting when they were down, Shanahan didn't have to walk over and console anyone in Q1 of a playoff game. Down 3 scores Bosa wasn't sulking, Warner and Greenlaw were still flying around, walking with a swagger after making hits. They're everything we wish this team was.
I'm just wondering are they just being crushed by the weight of the pressure of this franchise or is the country club atmosphere just making everyone soft here? Because everything you said is facts, but what makes it really sad and concerning is that everything you said could apply to the previous core and how they responded to adversity compared to the Coughlin NY Giants. Something gotta change man.

Niners have a stud at QB, Cowboys do not. That being said, if Goff's receivers had any catching ability whatsoever, Lions still would have won that game. Goff dropped some beautiful dimes that went right through his receiver's hands on multiple occasions.

Sometimes you complete that 1:10000 probability bomb off the CB's facemask and your competition starts fumbling and dropping everything.

I started harping on the team's seemingly lack of grit after the Arizona debacle. To win, your team (really your franchise from top-to-bottom) must have it. San Francisco had it this season and for several years. Likewise with Kansas City.

Dallas does not have it. Dallas has tried-and-failed to attain it for nearly 30 years. Pizzazz and smack talk does not attain it. Intelligence and true inner drive wields it.
We are soft. We get punched in the mouth and then we fold. I don't even know if we come back in a game like this even with Campbell's questionable moves. I knew the game was over after the first drive. You could see it in their eyes especially Dak's..
They got punched in the mouth by Brandon Jacobs and the NY Giants for years, we blamed it on Coach Cupcake.

They got punched in the mouth in the Romo years, we blamed the QB and a robotic head coach.

Here we are, it's happening again with an entirely different core/staff. Including a DC who had Seattle playing with incredible swagger for years and even took the lowly Falcons to the Super Bowl.

Demarcus Ware gets criticized for years for not showing up in big games, then shows up expediously in Denver.

I just don't get this franchise anymore. It seems everything we touch dies.

I think our defense basically quit.

My guess is they got wind of Quinn leaving and pouted so badly they couldn't even play. Which is of course ridiculous and unacceptable.

But I don't think it was just a bad day. Something else was going on.
