Why didn't we go after Aaron Jones?

We are drafting our starter RB at the bottom of rd1 next year.

Dallas wanted to go back to Zeke, unless another RB came to them wanting a dirt cheap offer.

Next to Sasquatch Barley, I wanted Aaron Jones with a star on his helmet.

I'm still not a fan of Elliott and still think he's lots his speed. We are paying Elliott $3 million this year.

While Aaron Jones is getting 3.5 million. I don't know why we didn't even look at Jones at all. Elliott is Elliott. He can't break tackles and has lost his speed. Our run game will end up biting us this season because we went with Elliott and not look at other alternatives.
We really need a dislike button.
This stuff is just goofy.

Zeke is here because the team wanted to keep/make his best friend, the 60M QB happy.
And because they trust Zeke to pick up blitzes and move piles in the red zone.

Every week it is going to another RB who has a single good game that we cry over it appears.
Zeke averaged 4 yards a carry and scored your lone rushing TD.
And hit 9 so hard on a blitz pick up that he simply never blitzed again the rest of the game.

Cook, Dowdle or even Deuce might do enough with carries to earn more over time, but Zeke is going to be here regardless.
Dallas went over 100 yards rushing and outrushed the Browns.

So basically a real fan is someone who needs others' thoughts along with Sports Center highlights to be able to then form their own opinion?

I am not a real fan, I guess...
yeah it was clearly sarcasm you're clearly not in a good mood right now, i'll leave you alone, have a great day buddy

Who else signs a starting RB because he's buddies with the QB and is good at getting two yards in piles?

This FO wanted the fans to believe they were making the players prove it and earn their deals so they made it seem like they werent paying Dak.

Then they went and paid him anyways. Basically. Slapping the fans in the face for the umpteenth time and using it as an excuse to sit out of FA.

D'Onta Foreman is available. And is better than anything we currently have. Yet. Jerry saw that hurdle and thinks he has 2016 Zeke back.

Because Aaron is actually Jerry's illegitimate son and he wants nothing to do with him.

Agree, once I saw the cheeseheads just let him walk, I just knew the Clampetts would make a play since had no RB or wasn’t going after James Conner (his name came up before the draft).

When you put it that way it's tough to argue, but if you use their actual salaries it's a little different. I'm not saying I wouldn't have preferred Jones (my guy was Henry) just that you totally changed the comparison by using the wrong salaries:

Jones - 1 year $7M
Zeke - 1 year $2M

Who else signs a starting RB because he's buddies with the QB and is good at getting two yards in piles?
IDK we drafted one because his dad is a scout.
You cant shout form rooftops while Zeke makes 12M AAV that "RBs do not matter" then also cry that when he makes 3M he isn't good enough.

FWIW most coaches will only play RB who are really good at pass blocking. And Zeke is one of the best in NFL history.

Dowdle had 8 carries for 26 yards. Zeke 10 for 40 yards. Deuce 1 for 4 yards.
The running game produced what was there to be gotten.

growing up in Texas, having gone to school at UTEP... Good chance Aaron takes a little less to play in Dallas.

I wanted Dallas to draft him, even with Zeke on the roster in 2017
I doubt it.

The money making window of an NFL player is short. The difference between $7M and $3M is huge (obviously). There’s no reason Jones should have taken less.

Facts have no use here.

All you are doing is being a crybaby throwing a temper tantrum. You didn't get what you what, boo hoo. :muttley:

I've never shouted that RBs do not matter, because I believe they do.

And we drafted Deuce because he was a damn good back in college. You're a Big 12 guy, you know this.

Ask yourself, why didn't Green Bay pay $3.5 million to keep him?

There are reasons. Like Barkley, he can't stay healthy.

Aaron Jones signed a 1 Year, $7,000,000 contract with the Minnesota Vikings on March 12, 2024. The contract runs through the 2024 season and has an average annual value of $7,000,000. It also came with a $4,000,000 signing bonus and $7,000,000 guaranteed.

Ezekiel Elliott signed a 1 year , $2,000,000 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including $375,000 signing bonus, $1,625,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,000,000

They did not get the same deal.
Tony Pollard 3 yr deal averages $7.250 million. $10.49 guaranteed.

Because we gave the money to Trance.

JK Dobbins is the one they missed on. Chargers signed him in April for $1.6 m and he had 10 carries for 135 yards 1TD against the Raiders.

Injury prone but yeah I would’ve taken him a potential low risk high reward move which I’m shocked they didn’t try to sign him.

Jones was too costly just like Henry. If we couldn’t afford to keep Pollard no way were we going to sign Jones. By the way Pollard had 82 yards and one TD on Sunday.
