Yup.All the swearing on hard knocks.. it was cringeworthy. Just seemed like he was trying to hard and it looked out of place.

Oh they'll credit MM when we lose a game no doubt. Some people always have to have a whipping boy. But I agree with you about a quality plan that didn't exist before McCarthy came. I also think it didn't show before because Kellen Moore was Jerry's pet cat so MM didn't exactly have a free hand to do as he wished.Weird thing around here. They’ll credit Quinn, Moore, McClay and even Jerry while the HC has nothing to do with it. I think it’s McCarthy more than any of them. There’s a quality plan in place that simply didn’t exist before he got here.
McCarthy is working with better talent because he helped bring that talent in. He's helping to shape this team into what it's becoming.I mean, we've got as far with Mike McCarthy as we did with Jason Garrett. Who cares how the season records have looked.
Plus, McCarthy is working with better talent.
I'm not a huge fan of Jason Garrett, but the first 5-6 years of his tenure here was rebuilding the defense after he finished with the offensive line.
Yup. I mean, this is not even close.Extremely different. Sure we’d like to be deeper in certain areas, but young guys are stepping up and playing well through adversity. That’s definitely one of the signs that things are not the same. It’s a big leap towards a much improved roster and all those improvements to the 53 are glaringly obvious when compared to the previous regime.
I doubt McCarthy has anything to do with the defensive picks...McCarthy is working with better talent because he helped bring that talent in. He's helping to shape this team into what it's becoming.
I'd take McCarthy's eye for talent ANY day to that of Garrett.
Jerry has always been typecast as a meddler because he is outspoken and was in the dual role of owner and GM. Even Jimmy Johnson stated that Jerry was more of an irritation than a meddler because he would pitch ideas and be omni-present. From my perspective Jerry and Stephen basically holding the reins made a truly nearsighted and distracted tag team because of running so many other major business ventures. Jerry is just a figure head GM but because he is not shy speaking out to the media some think he is still micromanaging everything. Really at 80 years old? He can't even bend over to put his socks on let alone structure a long term team development plan.Jerry is still here. The assumption is that the coaches since Jimmy, excluding Parcells, were just weak yes men who basically were not true coaches and that Big Mike would just follow suit and be another weak HC like Garretop was.
McCarthy made some bad calls, such as pre-DC before Quinn, but I think he is a vast improvement over Garrett and has more control then it may appear, and definitely more than Garretop had.
The stomach does churn when I see Garrett on TV as an analyst, briefly, a pang of true fear erupts as the brain sees him as still our HC, then reality sets in and a deep relaxation takes hold. The decade under Garrett always seem a wasted time for Cowboys fans.
It's not the defense I'm worried about. The Cowboys offense has a reputation for getting punched in the mouth and falling down against good defenses. Specifically one player doesn't show up.This team isn't the 8-8 cowboys of old. I don't see a scenario where Dan Quinn and Micah have a let down game against Zach Wilson. You guys need to let the Garret era go he can't hurt you anymore.
Yes but his spirit still lives on in some placesI think it's important to remember that Jason Garrett can't hurt us anymore
We lost to:
Brock Purdy
Kyler Murray
Teddy Bridgewater
Derek Carr
Baker Mayfield
All during the McCarthy era.
To be fair, based on the Lance trade, big Mike doesn’t get much of a say.McCarthy is working with better talent because he helped bring that talent in. He's helping to shape this team into what it's becoming.
I'd take McCarthy's eye for talent ANY day to that of Garrett.
Nothing like a JasonG thread.I think it's important to remember that Jason Garrett can't hurt us anymore
I doubt big Mike gets any input on the players.I doubt McCarthy has anything to do with the defensive picks...
I haven’t read through this entire thread, so I am going to imagine that other poster are going to align with my thoughts. Do you not remember just last year? This team isn't the 8-8 cowboys of old. I don't see a scenario where Dan Quinn and Micah have a let down game against Zach Wilson. You guys need to let the Garret era go he can't hurt you anymore.
When every win counts towards home field advantage, no game is meaningless. SMDH!In a meaningless game but ok
I think we’ll get a better read on his play calling vs the Jets.Oh they'll credit MM when we lose a game no doubt. Some people always have to have a whipping boy. But I agree with you about a quality plan that didn't exist before McCarthy came. I also think it didn't show before because Kellen Moore was Jerry's pet cat so MM didn't exactly have a free hand to do as he wished.
And if they weren't trying to win then Dak wouldn't have played/When every win counts towards home field advantage, no game is meaningless. SMDH!
Okay, Show us where the "Bad Redheaded Man" touched you, little Timmy. This team isn't the 8-8 cowboys of old. I don't see a scenario where Dan Quinn and Micah have a let down game against Zach Wilson. You guys need to let the Garret era go he can't hurt you anymore.
True point! And if they weren't trying to win then Dak wouldn't have played/
Past history points toward the opposite.I doubt McCarthy has anything to do with the defensive picks...
