Why do the players love Jerry Jones?

I get that a lot of fans cannot stand Jerry Jones. But if Jerry is such a POS, then why do his players love him so much? At the Press Conference announcing that DeMarcus Ware is going into the Ring of Honor, Ware called Jerry his "Dad." When asked about Jerry, Ware said, "The truth of the matter is he is an awesome person."

See the 13:21 mark on this video.

I remember Larry Allen talking about Jerry in reverential terms in his Hall of Fame speech, and calling Jerry a great man. Multiple HOF Cowboys have said the same thing about Jerry. Very few of them talk about Jimmy in the same way. Even Troy Aikman, who is very close to Jimmy, talks about feeling betrayed by Jimmy when he left the Cowboys. He talked about how Jimmy demanded sacrifice from the players, but wasn't willing to make a sacrifice himself.

I'm not in awe of Jerry Jones. I don't know the man, and he's not been very good at getting back to a Super Bowl after the teams Jimmy built got old. But I don't think Jimmy deserves the honor some want to give him. I acknowlege Jimmy's talent. But he backstabbed Jerry and his players. And before that, he backstabbed the President of the University of Miami. He backstabbed his wife, unceremoniously dumping her after she supported him through his career. Jimmy is a thoroughly dishonorable man.

But player after player after player after player continue to sing the praises of Jerry Jones the man. Fans may be justified in being unimpressed with Jerry the GM of the Cowboys. But if you believe the players who have played for him, he is a much better person than Jimmy Johnson, and maybe some fans ought to be willing to acknowledge that Jerry must have done something to earn the honor, respect and love of those who've played for him.

Same reason that I do. Because he’s rich and sexy as heck……..

Jerry sacrifices all for the good of his team...and his people benefit from that.
Except for that little ego thing that wont allow him to sacrifice himself for the team.

I’m actually disappointed in your post CC.

One parent lets the kids eat ice-cream for dinner and stay up all night watching TV. The other is responsible and makes the kids eat good food, limits the junk food, and makes them go to bed at a reasonable time to get healthy amounts of sleep.

Which one do you think the kids likes more??

Jerry fully walks the road for head of a franchise...and he actually does a good job of it. I don't insult a reasonably earned respect that just comes with the territory. One just can't delegate responsibility on down the chain of command. On the field that starts with the Head Coach and Jerry fully supports what he is about and desires. In reality, that is being top shelf. I don't hero worship instead. I'm fully ready and respectful of this year's season....let's go!

Why is it so hard to separate what’s good for the player as compared to what is good for the organization.

Paying players and befriending them is a far cry from crushing the organization and fan base with his ego and hubris by insisting he gets credit for winning while taking no responsibility for losing.

How many times has he admitted he probably would have fired himself as the GM.

He’s a caricature of himself, the main clown in an almost 30 year bumbling, stumbling circus if losing.

I hate Jerry for what he has done to the love of my life but I’m sure I’m much older than you and have emotionally invested for longer than you.

My one remaining hope before I die is Charlotte and if she doesn’t insist on change when he’s gone then that’s it.

By the way I don’t blame you for not understanding - but now you know.

Yea, if one is talking about cotton candies...but this is professional football, and a lot has to be done for the real good of players. Top shelf medical facilities and medical personnel, trainers, and facilities. Also, support systems for a wharehouse full of problems that players encounter in this world and sport, both. He is top shelf in looking after his players and maintaining reasonable respect center view.

His teams are ready to respond to opening whistles and to handle momentum changes as part of their growth projections. Good football at the base...

It is an aggressive sport and managed as such.

We dont know what goes on behind closes doors so we truly dont know who the "better" person is.

The players - yes I'm sure they loved Jerry more, he payed and treated them well, where Jimmy had to be hard on them to make them better players.

They love him because they love money.....and he gives it to them.

As soon as they start playing for another team and their owner starts giving them money....they'll love that new guy.

When work brings in a million plus income, as a fan, I'm really not concerned about personal greed and back patting.

Players love Jerry because he undermines the coaching staff and the players know this, so they don’t really fear the coaches.
Moreover, Jerry coddles the players, cultivating a sense of entitlement, consistently giving them second chances when they screw up; and consistently rewards players with contracts for mediocre play.
Jerry is a mad scientist and the Dallas Cowboys are his personal chemistry set.

They love him because he is a dad to a lot of them who grew.up without a father.

they love the country club and the open office. Big checks and no repercussions for sucking.

No structure and no discipline.
