Why do we have such a horrible offense?

:D So you don't really believe it works, u just wanna appease the fans eh?

I think play action off the run is only effective if the running game is challenging the defense.Running for a good gain only to follow it up with a couple of runs that stink will not challenge a defense.

I said it last year and I say it this year. This offense only scores with limited time left and the 'impact' of Red-Head is nullified by Tony Romo simply making things happen. There is a trend here that was evident last year and it was simply scoring TDs in this sort of fashion. Against Baltimore last year, the Cowboys offense had 5 three and outs and 4 I believe 2 drive series and Baltimore dominated the TOP. Romo made things happen at the end but the defense just collapsed because they were exhausted. The next week against Philly, the same trend happened, where the two TOs by Dallas came. They started to move thew ball, but it was just a reckless pace. The game got out of hand because of these 2 TOs for TDs.

ANd yet, the Chargers offense averages around 3 YPC, but their play-action is damn effective...

In between the red-zone, teams simply play zone and drop their safeties back in coverage taking away the deep pass. They give up the middle, but that effectively becomes negated when they are in the red-zone because of the short field. We are horrible in the red-zone, because the field is shortened and Garrett's poor passing designs become more evident, because of his inability to create spacing mis-matches and keep defesnes off balacne.

I think receivers that have a sizeable height advantage over most defensive backs are extremely effective.

Its a little of just poor execution by the players, but its mostly poor coaching by not doing what the players on the team can do best and just outright poor gameplan and playcalling management.

Roy WIlliams isn't short... and Witten is just as good as Gates... and our RBs are better than what they have... and Miles Austin is a lot stronger than most WRs...

Williams isn't short,but he's not 6'5" either.

Witten is a better overall tight end.Gates is a better receiver.

Miles is pretty strong, but he still has a long ways to go to be a complete receiver.

I think our backs need to be used in a slightly different manner and the line needs to pick it up.

In the last 10 games we've scored 210 pts...thats not great, but either you need to quit listening to Norm because he has his facts wrong, or you totally misheard what he said.

As for you comment about the defense...the defense is average at best and the last two ames, has pulled a major fold in crunch time, something that has plagued the team for years. They dont force turnovers and unlike last yr, we are getting very little pressure on the QB.

There are issues in alot of places, not just the offense.

Clearly both sides of the ball have trouble standing up and getting it done when they have to. We can't score from the 1 we can't stop anyone when it matters. There are issues. We have cut down the penalties now we just need to score TD's instead of missing field goals.

I think the problem stems with our off coordinator Jason Garret. First off he just doesn't know how to utilize his talent properly. Why do we have to wait till the 4th quarter to try and get Felix Jones the ball? Why does he keep running those plays with Barber over and and over and yet getting the minimum in yards gained?

Secondly, Jason just doesn't have a feel for the game. He is nothing more than a X and Os type of guy. When Romo starts to get hot passing the ball he comes with these stupid Wild Cat plays or straight running plays to Barber up the middle with no yards gained.

Lastly, I notice he just isn't creative or doesn't use mismatches to his advantage. Several games we have lost trying to run the ball while the opponents have aweful pass defense or vice versa.

We never had these problems in the past since Garret took over. He just isn't a good coach and will be an aweful selection as head coach if he ever takes over for Wade.

1. The offense is very predictable and there are not enough trick type plays or misdirection plays when the offense is stagnant. Lack of creativity in playcalling is my biggest gripe.

2. The defense doesn't cause enough turnovers, so the offense is almost never given a short field to work with. Combine this with a bad kickoff return game and you aren't going to score on many 80 yard drives.

3.Stupid penalties, missed blocks and bad execution in the red zone.

I'll bet right now Garrett opens up the offense in New Orleans with Barber III up the middle. Second and eight will see another run up the middle by Barber III. Third and four will be a pass to Witten over the middle for a first down. Drive will stall on the next series when Flozell flinches, and Romo will be unable to recover from the third and twenty.

RW 6'3"
Austin 6'3"
Bennette 6' 6"
Witten 6'5"

We have big tall receivers too.

Situational play-calling by JG is the problem. Mooch made some good points about this earlier in the week.

did Mooch also make the point that this is likely a problem for every relatively inexperienced OC?

NO disputing how bad our offense has been: just brutal. the worst part is, it puts horrific stress on the defense. 3 and out , after 3 and out, after 3 and out really takes it's toll: they're worn down and it will show tonight. We're going to get blown out and anyone that thinks different is just dreaming: short week, hardest environment to play in the NFL and one of the top 3 teams in the league spells disaster. Just hope Jethro doesn't hire Red: because he really doesn't deserve the job...."Constant Reboot's" post about Red having no feel for the game is absolutely 100% dead on. Unbelievable how disconnected he really is from the pulse of what makes an offense click. He should watch more tape on Norv Turner's offenses and learn something......
