Sure -- but if we could get some sort of list of the top 10-20 ignored users that would help folks who are bothered to decide who to ignore.

Honestly, I see this sort of accounting as a good way to address the issue. The board isn't deciding to ban or get rid of someone -- just making information about who other posters have found annoying available.

A Zone "most hated" list- updated weekly. :laugh2: Should the members have a scarlet "I" in their sig space too?:laugh1:

Let's not get carried away here. This place has remarkably few trolls. And there's tons of good advice on how to deal with one if one actually bothers you in this thread. If you think trolls are a huge problem here however you may have a future as a Dallas reporter.

I understand your point, but it seems to me that there is an obvious distinction between (1) people expressing an opinion and (2) people trolling a message board intentionally starting conflict on the same issue over and over and over. And far as ignoring the user goes, that doesn't really solve the issue because since he is obviously trying to troll, he gets people who argue back against him. So even if I ignore him, there is still discord and the resulting argument that is laid bare.

You also have the option to simply not open that thread after you see what is going on. You don't have to read every post or make a comment in every thread. If it is a thread that annoys you simply don't open it again and leave it to the ones who get into those types of discussions.

The best way to deal with trolls is to completely ignore them. It's reactions they want and if no one reacts, eventually, they will go elsewhere looking to find a reaction. Unfortunately, not everyone knows to do that and the trolls usually catch a lot of suckers and a few big mouth bass. Then, too, some folks just like to argue and they and the trolls find each other.

Me, I just ignore them both.
