Why does Moore hate the run game?

He's a Garrett clone, a former backup QB that wants to be seen as the next creator of prolific passing offenses. His offensive gameplans are completely independent of the team's overall gameplan.

Moore cannot comprehend a ball control, time of possession, field position type of philosophy, despite the fact that the team has been uniquely constructed for just that purpose. They have an excellent run blocking O-line, punishing 1-2 punch at RB, and even superior run blocking WR's. They got rid of Cooper in part because they planned to employ more two-back or two-TE sets.

What happened to the run first plan where Dak is a "busdriver?"

The Cowboys are 26-1 when Dak throws 28 times or fewer. In fact, the Cowboys score an average of 7 points more when Dak throws less..

The Cowboys are 29-32 when Dak throws more than 28 times. Some will claim that Dak had to throw more because they were losing and had to play catch up.

Was that the situation against the Packers this time? The Cowboys had a 14 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Why did Dak end up throwing 46 times in a game where they were only behind for a total of 1 minute and 42 seconds in the 2nd quarter?

The Cowboys first two drives were three and out and they both started with a Pollard run followed by two Dak passes.

The third drive began with two consecutive Pollard runs resulting in a 1st down. That was followed by a set of downs that included two consecutive runs, one by Pollard and one by Dak. Again they moved the chains. They scored their first TD on this drive.

The Cowboys 4th drive started on the Packer ten yard line with a run by Malik Davis followed by two consecutive pass attempts that resulted in a sack and an INT. Why? First and goal and you run the ball once by your 3rd back?

On the Cowboys 5th drive they run the ball consecutive times and they are getting 1st downs. After that the Cowboys go exclusively passing game. Why? They are on their own 42 yard line with over two and a half minutes left in the half and all three time outs. They could have continued to run the ball; This is confirmed by the fact that they still had one last drive to end the half.

Rodgers passed only 20 times. The Cowboys and Packers had almost identical average yards per carry.

The Cowboys lost in part because they failed to commit to the running game. That is on Kellen Moore.

We need some balance you can’t just run the ball all day. Running the ball keeps your score down. We had 37 rushing attempts yesterday for over 150 yards and Pollard got 22 of those carries. We ran the ball plenty. You score points in the passing game and we have to put points on the board because our defense is starting to falter. We’ve given up an average of 30 points the past two games. The Packers were able to beat us with their running and passing game. They put up 21 points through the air.

No we had 31 and 4 of those were by Dak on QB sneaks when we needed less than a yard.

he was a passing qb on a passing team and had success in college, so that is what he knows and likes.
he doesnt understand the run game or how to use it. And he like many others think you have to pass a lot to win.

If we're going with that, how about my subjective claim too......KMoore is over his head on a consistent basis. Out-schemed practically every game, especially against formidable teams. Using college/high school style schemes that don't fool anyone in the NFL, hear teams declare knowing what to anticipate from the OC. Is a FG kicker's best friend in the Red Zone. RB killer, Freezes in the moment. Fails to make obvious adjustments, Heir to the HC position, Goes on the interview trail every offseason to no avail, Immune to accountability.

I'm not sure what to believe about Moore. If Dak is checking out of too many plays then perhaps we need to give Moore a bit more slack until things like that get cleared up.

He's had slack since he got the job.

This is hard to argue. Whether Rush ID better than Dak isn’t the question. But is the team better when Rush plays. And the answer is unequivocally yes, because the coaching is forced to have a game plan which features our strengths.

Because the NFL is all about passing these days and if you want a HC gig you need to have those stats on your resume.

Dak threw for 5000 yards one year yet Kellen is still here. I think winning is the formula that leads to a head coaching gig.

It's truly amazing that we've had not postseason success with a QB that has not only never thrown a bad pass, but never even made a bad decision on the football field.

He is surrounded by bumbling idiots for teammates and he is the only mistake free player in the NFL.

This was actually from the Tampa game last year.

Dak played well in that game, so that's why Moore was comfortable saying this to the media.

But the question is how many games has Dak done this where it didn't work out good and Moore didn't bring it up in the media because it didn't work out?

Dallas was killing it in run game but yet Moore like to air it out. Face it Dak is a Jag qb. Moore thinks Dak is Marino. I guess money talks.

Running the ball was not an issue in this game even in OT Dallas ran the ball but hard to run when you get a holding penalty and facing 1 and 20. Hell he called the run play to Davis up the middle for a big gainer only to watch it called back. Pollard had 22 carries in the game. So what are you talking about? Moore does not like the run? BS

he likes to take more chances when Dak is playing which is confusing

Dak is a great qb but even Aaron rodgers whos Hof bound didnt throw it alot yesterday because the run game was working

ive said it before, when the rum game is working even Patrick Mahomes will be told by reid to run the ball

No they didnt.

They lost because they had a two TD lead in the 4th qtr and the defense melted down. We scored 28 pts against a team that coming in was averaging 17 and had managed 57 total points in their previous 4 games. If every team the Packers played the first 9 games had scored 28 pts, the Packers would have been 0-9.

Our defense is supposed to be good, the last two games it hasn't been and it has nothing to do with how many times we run or pass.

I don't know why people obsess over number of pass plays vs run plays, the object is to score points. I don't care if they pass 100 times and run 0 if they score touchdowns, and neither should anyone else. We scored 28 pts against a team coming in that had no offense, we should not have lost.

Also as pointed out in another post, we had 6 possessions where we ran only 3 plays. On every single one of them we did run the ball at least once. If you don't get 3rd down conversions it's hard to run up play counts. Had we done that there would have been more running plays. We had 31 rushes as it was, so it isnt like they gave up on the run. There was only one series in the game where they passed it way more than they ran it, and it was right before the end of the first half when they had to throw to get into scoring range.

Yeah, it is.

Prescott has a lot of leeway to make play calls at the LOS. It's even been admitted by the coaches.

Nobody has any idea how many pass calls get changed to run or vice versa, or how many of the line calls are decoy calls just trying to throw the defense off. But he IS making line calls.

Romo did the same thing and all people anted to do was blame the "pass happy play caller Garrett". It wasn't until our own defensive players called him out for doing it that anyone knew about it.
