Why dont other QB's use the Romo spin move?

I think Vick had a better spin move. But I don't think Vick could do as much as Romo with Gurode's bad snaps. That ball going over his head probably still gives Tony nightmares.

Okay thanks guys never thought about it being a basketball move. And I guess I was wrong about it being easy to do or more guys would do it. But Tony was very good at it.

The reason you don't see it more is because QBs are coached not to do it. QBs are coached to never take their eyes off the field of play. When you spin away or you divert your gaze, you have to re-aquire all your receivers and all the defenders as well. It's hard enough to identify the open guy and make all the right reads. It's stupid hard to do it when you have a split second to re-set and make all the right reads, while scrambling for your life.

Romo's quickness in the pocket was very underrated. He was a great athlete although not a very fast straightline runner. It's amazing awareness and agility. Not a very easy move. There was a period from around 2011 to 2013 where almost EVERYTIME he made the move, a huge play followed.

Romo's patented spin came from the fact that he had the instinct to use it at the right time and also because he's a pretty solid basketball player. Not every QB has Romo's hoops skills and can't pull it off.

It is a good move not hard to learn so why do other quarterbacks not use it at all.
did Tony copyright it or something?
I would like to see dak use it!

Because they aren't that good.

Dak did use it, in a way, vs. Philly to throw the game-winning touchdown to Witten.

It's a basketball move. It's not just a spin move, it's a slight fake to get your opponent to commit his weight and momentum in one direction, so you can spin out of it the other direction. Romo was used to doing that in basketball against lighter and more agile defenders so doing it against players weighing a lot more and running in one direction was probably much easier for him.

That spin out of the JJ Watt sack is still awesome to watch :D

I forgot to wish everyone a Happy JJ Watt Day on August 8th (8-8).
