Why don't we use Glenn the same way the Panthers use Smith and the Skins use Moss?

Glenn does have a gaudy 20 yards per catch, he his YAC is pretty low. Most of the time he catches it and gets tackled.




That's true, but I'm not talking about # of catches, I'm talking about types of catches. Most of Glenn's receptions are on fades where he gets tackled immediately, or on an out where he gets tackled/pushed out immediately. Moss and Smith takes screens and slants and take it to the house. I'd like to see Glenn get that chance.




The passes against us not as much. But his highlights this year have included a lot of yards after the catch.

I guess in the end I am not understanding of why we need to change the way we use Glenn or even expand it. Whether YAC or RAC in the end its the yards TOTAL that matter. So yards per catch is all encompassing and Glenn is doing that at a higher rate.

As to why I think the answer is simple. We have a stronger-armed QB and we have other weapons on the shorter routes.

Dallas top 3 receivers have 108 catches for 1547 yds. Carolina has 83 for 1338 and Washington has 103 for 1452.

I'll take Dallas multi-dimensional situation over Washington and Carolina's one dimensional passing attack any day.

Carolina has more passing touchdowns than we do and Washington has 1 less than we do. Neither their qb's or Wr's are as experienced or as pedigreed as ours, yet they manage to keep with us. There's more than one way to get things done.

I think you're the closest to being right. Both Smith and Moss are just better open field runners than Glenn. Also, you have to consider who's throwing the ball to Glenn, Bledsoe. He had a comparable receiver to Moss,Glenn and Smith in Lee Evans and whereas Evans had a good season, he was nowhere as explosive as he would have been had he had a play-making qb to play with. Qb's like Brunell and McNabb and Steve Young and Elway have the kind of mobility that gives a receiver time to get open if they're initially covered. If receivers don't get open immediately, Bledsoe-types will either take the sack and fumble or force the ball in there anyway and get it picked. This is why I thought the trade of Moss for Coles would benefit the Skins. Moss is just a better athlete than Coles. Coles is just fast, while Moss is fast and a good open field runner. Moss was more explosive with Quincy Carter last year than with Pennington and the same holds true with Brunell as his qb. Mobile qb's who can throw on the run and break a defense down create more big-play opportunities for an offense, because they put more pressure on the opposing teams defense.

How about the fact that Lee Evans was a rookie last season? Does that effect how good a season he had?

Glenn is not nearly as strong as Steve Smith. And I don't believe he is nearly as fast or shifty as Moss.

I have to disagree.

Moss may be a little faster top speed but Glenn is every bit as shifty and quick as Moss.
And Glenn's hands are easily the best of the three. I've seen Moss drop alot of passes. Glenn rarely drops anything.

Steve Smith and Santana Moss are very comparable. Speed, size, strength, heart, etc.

Glenn doesnt play with the same type of fire. Everytime Smith or Moss makes a catch they are looking to take it to the house. I dont see that from Glenn.

Steve is a bit better than Moss. But there are no 2 recievers in the league this year as explosive as them. Glenn is having a good season but he's not on the level of Smith or Moss. Moss and Smith can take screens and take them to the house. Just last night on a 3rd and 17 we threw a screen pass to Moss and it goes 19 yards.

Steve Smith is having an incredible year and no reciever in the league is as explosive as him right now.
